I’ve been wondering how ranking works here, so I played this 2nd season,
I played the preliminary 10 games in slayer, I won 8 out of 10 games, I played
toe-to-toe with enemies diamond levels on around game 7th to 10th games,
but I was placed platinum 3, previous season I finished platinum 2 but I reached
platinum 6 but was derank several times due to bad team mates even my friends
are playing horrible (not to degrade them but it is the fact).
So I came into thinking why im placed in platinum 3? So I tried to think the possible
reason for this.

KD ratio (excluding A=assist since it doesn’t matter)
accuracy
ranks of opponents your team defeated
If anyone can enlighten me about how ranking works, would greatly appreciate.
Currently I dont play with randoms anymore from what experience I stumbled in
season 1, so If I got no trusted friends who are online, I dont play slayer, I play
swat solo queue though, FFA is my next target to rank up this season 2 since I
played platinum 6 on last season.
I think your previous season ranking is 95% where you get placed. Activee if anyone knows him is a twitch guy. Idk if he’s a halo pro but I don’t think so. Anyways, I looked at his ranking right after he finished his first ten. His stats were mediocre, Kd at about 1.0 and win % was like 70% and he got placed in onyx, right where he was in January season.

1 the ranking system is broken and needs work. Last season I didn’t lose a single placement match in slayer and I got gold 4
2 its dependent on if you win and how your stats are
Then there’s all the ranks all of them except onyx and champion having 6 levels
Bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, then there is onyx wich is for the top 2000 players in the whole world. And there’s champion for the top 200 in the whole world.

Indeed, I really believe that previous season really affects your rank on the next season. I still feel they need to make the formula for it a bit realistic next season.

I really hope they fix it, even though I play with my friends on slayer it still frustrating that you need to climb up to where you suppose to be at and your other team mates being savagely killed while your trying to be good on any match.

Placement is W/L and your own skill = k/d/a, accuracy, damage, medals + the rank of the enemy team and their performance.

Because he plays like a onyx… thats why he gets ranked onyx. Doh.
Man same bs here except I started a new account (this one) last season and wont 9 of 10 in swat and only get platinum no previous ranking got a 1.5 something kd idk it’s rigged
I think its random, the other day i was playing in a party to rank on breakout, after the 10th game i got platinum 3 and my friend got platinum 6
both play the same 10 games and we both got the same wins and losses but my KD was 2.7 and my friend was 1.5
I don’t know how do they qualify your abilities but i don’t think its the best

Maybe you dealt less damage or had a lower accurary… less medals etc.
A better k/d or k/d/a doesnt make you a better player.
