How does ODST effect the Halo story?

How does ODST effect the halo story? What I think its all because of Buck, all descriptions of him says “Truely, if he was any better he would be a spartan.” and the description of the new Spartans is usually saying that these Spartans where past ODSTs and Marines who tried out to be a spartan. Will buck be returning in Halo 4?

Time will tell, Halo 4 doesn’t come out for another few months, and revealing something like that, even for those who want it, is a massive spoiler.

im still thinking ODST must have told more it doesn’t really fit in the halo story other than the fall of NW and a friendly engineer

I honestly don’t think it had any importance on the Master Chief end of Halo. Think it was just a side view of the Halo universe from a ODST perspective.

… i didnt think of that simple answer, anyway i might stick with moa, we’ll have to wait and see

I predicted this too. I really think that Buck would make a fitting Spartan, and that it would be a good continuation of his story.

I’d be surprised if he wasn’t, that is if he even survived in the time between then and Halo 4.

Simple answer: it doesn’t. H3 ODST is a well-done side story from a different perspective, meant to tie in neatly with the main plot. The game’s narrative has no real effect on the big picture and if you wiped the campaign from our memories it wouldn’t negatively affect our understanding of the Halo storyline.

From a Halo Story standpoint it doesn’t affect it much other then the Virgil becoming an asset to the UNSC. But from the developers standpoint I always felt Halo 3 ODST had a huge impact on Halo Reach, almost like a prelude. The addition of Firefight, a team of Spartans/ODSTs, removal of the Br, reintroduction of the health system, and even Buck playing a cameo in Halo Reach. Halo 3 ODST helped benefit the development of Halo Reach in numerous ways.

I can definitely agree with this, story wise though it didn’t make any difference.

When was buck in halo: Reach???

and i would love to see the ODST team agian even if it was a cameo in halo 4 or possibly a ODST 2

Obviously one of the ODSTs does become a Spartan IV.
The FNG… you.

Well I do remember that Buck is in Halo Reach on the level were you fly the falcons to the buildings were the objective is. It was when you had to transport his falcon.

What this guy said.
It’s kind of like Prometheus, just a side story.
