How does flighting work?

Unfortunately, I was unaware of the insider program up until the day the Reach FireFlight was launched.
I have since signed up and am in the program, but I don’t see anything about how these things happen, so I do have a few questions:

  • How are these things announced?
  • If they are announced, where will they be announced? Here? Main page? Somewhere else?
  • If they’re not announced, can we just download the Flight in the email sent whenever during the event? Or does it have to be within a certain time frame from when you receive it?
  • For those who have played the Reach FireFlight, were you able to play the Flight after it was over, even if by yourself?

I’ll update the thread with new questions as I think of them.
Some questions might be a given, but I just want to make sure I don’t miss out on any future flights.

There’s a multitude of places you can check for flight information and announcements:

  • The MCC Development Updates thread—for regular status updates on flights and the MCC in general - The News page for less frequent but more in-depth monthly blogs - Postums’s Twitter—he’s the main public contact when it comes to the Insider program so any major updates will find their way here, often even faster than Waypoint - The Insider Forum—for everything Halo InsiderThe last two are where announcements happen the quickest. They generate a lot of buzz so you’re unlikely to miss flights if you check on those regularly.
    You can access the game build (assuming you’ve been picked) as soon and as long as the flight is active. Access is revoked when the flight ends.
