It was a useless weapon in Halo 2, but I think they went too far the other way after Halo 3 and made it too powerful.
It’s not even classed as a power weapon, yet it’s an auto weapon, the bullets are magnetised to opponents, and half a clip is enough to kill someone. Something that powerful should take more skill to use.
It feels OP to me.
I’d rather have it too op than useless, but I never seem to get killed that much by it
I love it. If I die from it I just roll my eyes and respawn. I will just have to get to it faster next time. If I have it, it feels like a guaranteed three kills. Where both teams can pick the weapon up, it doesn’t matter how strong the individual weapon is. Just comes down to outsmarting your opponent, or having your teammates back, or making sure to use the weapon optimally if you get your hands on it.
It makes me feel like exploding…and then I do.

I don’t think it should be useless, but it should either be removed from Arena, and kept for Warzone, or it should be nerfed to the point where, instead of killing someone with the amount of needles it does, just takes down your shield, and you have to finish someone off with the headshot.
LOVE IT… to me it is an iconic Halo weapon glad it’s actually useful again. Also bring back the needle rifle! It was always my favorite rifle, even over the BR
Love it. Unload half a clip, dodge, kill. Rinse, wash, repeat.

I love it as well, and I agree about the needle rifle, it must return! That thing was so satisfying.
I haven’t been killed by it too many times…but I have got some kills with it. I dig it when I am one shot and I can just needle someone and take them with me.
The Needler is a power weapon along with the Scattershot, Shotgun, Hydra and Sword. I find it funny that people think only the weapons on weapon pads are classed as ‘power weapons’ lol. Its like saying the Camo, Overshield and Damage boost is not a power item when clearly they are.
A power weapon/item is anything that gives you the upper hand in the match so considering the Needler wrecks the OS it is 100% a power weapon. I have seen many teams lose as they only thought a single weapon was the ‘power weapon’ and totally neglected the other critically important weapons on the map.
Hopefully you will learn and next time use the Needler yourself :))

That’s balanced imo that it takes that much ammo from a ‘mag’ to kill just one person. Now, if you shredded people with only a burst or two from it? Yeah, then I would cry OP
But really, I only ran into it once so far and I killed the guy before he killed me with it, I jacked it, then used it to kill two people before I died. Fair trade imo.
It’s not that op to me. It may be strong, but it is like a bullet hose. I always run out of ammo with it.
I think 343 hit the nail on the head with the Halo 5 needler, it’s good enough to make you want to use it rather than keeping the weapons you have but not so good that you can’t fight back against it

But the embedded needles will still explode… if you’ve got seven needles stuck in you once your shields go down (I think it’s seven and they break really quick anyway) they’ll supercombine (the large pink 'plosion) and kill you. If they didn’t, then it’d be a pointless weapon anti-infantry weapon.

Fun weapon to use, but I also love the fact I get 50rp for selling it. So I “had” 20 before…
truthfully i feel like they nerfed the hell out of it for this game its kind of a useless pickup at this point i used to see the needler and say bet there goes a quick double kill now i walk right over it becaus ethe game is too fast for such a simple weapon that used to be god like #halo5
