I heard a rumor that friendly fire will be off in infinity slayer.
I think friendly fire requires teammates to make better decisions with grenades/powerweapons. That is the major positive that makes me lean towards it being on.
The negative effect is team killing and trolls. Without friendly fire we no longer have to worry about jerks team killing or betraying for weapons.
I hope if it is turned off, it is indeed only in infinity slayer. For pub games and playing by yourself it could be a positive. But I think it will really hurt high level competitive matches. It would be too easy to use your teammates as bait to draw out the enemy, blast a rocket into the chaos, and pay no consequence.
Really? Well that’s kind of dumb. Friendly fire definitely needs to be a thing in Infinity Slayer. Halo shouldn’t be so forgiving, 343. “Oops, you shot a rocket at your buddy but it’s K. We’ll put his torso back together for ya and it’ll be like nothing happened!”
Allowing betrays mean you have to be selective as to when to use explosive weapons. I personally liked this. Now when you see a team mate being assassinated you can shoot them both and only kill the enemy. I personally thing this empowers tactics like grenade spamming too much and removes an element of decision making.
Dammed power weapon betrayers and trolls! Why you have to ruin it for the rest of us?
no friendly fire cuz there int nothin friendly about it i have people teamates kill me to keep me from getting perfection for weapons i mean really you say itmake player more cautious of corse it does so we dont get booted cuase of freaking accedents man there are are a heck of alot more con then pros to having friendly fire and vise versa
It should be enabled globally all the time, all the more reason to have a good betrayal booting system too.
There was a video a few months back of E3 Infinity Slayer, Friendly Fire was turned off, and the guy went to fire a rocket, and hit his team mate in the back, taking him down to no shields.
It encourages team work and to actually think about firing your gun.
I think you raised good points for both sides. You can’t go spamming and firing wildly with FF on, but with it disabled it does eliminate those pesky griefers and trolls.
I guess you’d have to decide which is the more annoying of the two.
and that teamate probaly got shot in the face by the freakin enemy with no FF you dont have to focus on anything but shooting the enemy cause when it all said and done if they tunr frienflt fire off i can bet all of you that you have nothin to -Yoink- about i garentee it but let leave it on and see what happens friendly fire is like 85% of hatred most peolpe playing halo and the rest is missing shots give us the 85% percent and we will be stress free
Hmm, it seems there are positives and negatives to both sides. As long as it was limited to that playlist only then I wouldn’t have a problem with it, but other than that I want it enabled.
> > Okay, unless I didn’t play infinity slayer Or really DIDN’T ever shoot someone. 99% sure friendly fire is ON.
>
> I don’t know whether it’s true or not. Just making discussion off of a rumor.
Fair enough. I personally think I accidentally head shot my friend when he stood in front of me while I was sniping. But the match was so intense I didn’t have time to stop and think therefore don’t entirely remember.
I’ll give my opinion on friendly fire though.
It’s good AND bad. in reach it was TERRIBLE, and partially my fault as to why my KD is so bad. Playing in games where team mates have access to anything explosive is pretty much my death in every fire fight scenario. more times have I died to friendly grenades than enemy ones. It’s ridiculous.
IN H4 the grenades aren’t so ridiculous, thankfully. But I have mixed feelings. Sometimes you NEED to be able to kill your team mates, but I personally feel a negative point system needs to be implemented or something to keep people, intent on ruining everyones fun, out of the games.
It has positives and negatives, I dislike the idea of mindlessly throwing grenades and shooting rockets even if your teammates are at blast radius. If this would be Halo 3, I’d say that definitely keep it in the game.
But after playing Reach and mainly searching alone, I suggest “social playlists” get rid of it, and competitive ones keep it. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been intentionally been betrayed for sniper rifle just because I’ve gotten into team of 3 while me being the only one not in the party, those people automatically assume they’re the pros and person searching alone is only there to be carried. Most of the time, they’ve been horrible with the sniper.
There is also the scenario of you beating some tryhard on a match, next game you’re on the same team. He decides to pay you back by constantly teamkilling you.
I’m not a self-proclaimed pro, but I know how to handle the gun well, and I NEVER betray people for power weapons.
In short:
Keep friendly fire ON for hardcore/ranked playlists.
Friendly fire OFF for casual/social playlists.

Good. I hate friendly fire. It would be better without it. It removes the biggest problem in Halo matchmaking, team killing. Straight up betrayals, just lowering another players shields so they’ll die faster, or finishing off somebody after an enemy harms them so it doesn’t count as a betrayal are not cool.
