I primarily play this game alone, because all of my friends gave up on Halo after Halo 4. I don’t blame them. I did too. I only ended up buying Halo in December.
Anyway…
Every game I enter alone – I mean EVERY - I match up against a team. Granted, I mostly play Onyx players, and most Onyx players are generally afraid to play alone… But come on. This is ridiculous.
Then, if I do get a group playing together on my team, they’re in party chat.
Are they planning on ever adding a playlist where solo players can play group matches vs other solo players? Destiny did this with great success.
Well, there IS FFA which caters to solo players and doesn’t allow fireteams to participate, but I understand you completely. I have never played a more infuriating Halo punishing worse players (which, ironically, they don’t claim to). I have an immense desire to succeed in Arena and rise the ranks but when it comes to matchmaking, I never feel inclined to play Arena and evenmoreso, feel inconfident. Arena is WAY to competitive even in the non-ranked playlists. I find myself quitting frequently and rather unsatisfied playing Arena. I know quiting is poor sportsmanship but for the absolute first time in my gaming career, familiar with Halo since 3, I feel morally justified to leave games I can’t possibly enjoy. I never minded losing in Halo 3 and Halo Reach but Halo 5 just does it’s magic and I feel rather unhappy playing it. It’s easy enough to drop the game entirely and play CoD instead, but I really want to enjoy Halo. It’s not just another game I would forget about in a month or two, but I just don’t feel what made Halo great. 343 is dropping the ball and no matter how much they masquerade it, they AREN’T addressing it.
As you’ve said, a non-fireteam playlist would be a step in the right direction similar to BO3’s Mercenary Moshpit. Hopefully it wouldn’t assume a 0% population like it is currently (AS OF APRIL 3RD, SO NO ONE THINKS I’M SPIT BALLING). Sorry to hear about your experience.
