For me, starting with the MA5C from Halo 3, changes:
40-round magazine
slightly higher rate of fire
slightly larger aiming reticule
slightly larger hitscan, better for close-quarters
different bark, more of a loud, cracking sound when it fires, like you know it’s trouble when it speaks
reload animation more like MA5B from Halo: CE/A
Also, I think it would be neat if there was another assault rifle, the MA2B:
30-round magazine
high rate of fire, higher than my version of MA5C
more powerful, 14 rounds to kill
aiming reticule of MA5B from Halo: CE/A
same range/accuracy/hitscan as MA5B
extremely deadly at close ranges, but suffers at distances and runs out of ammo quickly

Assuming there would be two assault rifles, then yes.
Basically, I want the Assault Rifle to be useful. One thing I like about Vanilla Reach is that the AR can be used to stave off DMR users, and can be used at range with controlled bursts. I absolutely hate the TU and ZB settings because it makes the AR and other automatic weapons useless.
This but make it headshot capable with a smaller clip size (around 40 sounds good) and with a slight damage increase. Dropping Elite shields with half the clip on Normal and being op against unshielded enemies. I’d toss my sniper, plasma pistol, and pistol for that.

ZB only affects precision weapons. Everything else is left alone. This makes the precision weapons extremely OP and every other weapon useless. It’s Halo 3 all over again, but worse.

For some reason, I imagined ZB affecting every weapon that used bloom. That would have been better…

They were useless before ZB, They will be useless now.

I know what you mean, that is one negative side effect of the TU, they changed a few key things central to the gameplay, and didn’t change other elements accordingly.
I want a new brand of a assault rifle, like a MA5D or something. Give it the aesthetic design of Halo CE/3/CEA, and give it the strength it had in Reach with the accuracy of Halo 3.
I think the ammo count should remain around 32 to keep the idea that it is an assault rifle, and that they should only give the 60 rounds to the SMG. Though I’d like to see the SMG improved so that is a bit more effective at close range.
And a bit off topic to this particular thread, I’d like to see a M90 model with has the power and range of Halo CE’s…well, maybe a tad weaker but a bit tougher than Halo Reach’s.
