Well if he ever makes an appearance in halo 5…
or if we might get to play as him(please 343)
I can understand why the elites had a radical change in appearance in halo 4
-343 had their own art style/direction
-storm elites are part of a different clan/group
I really hope Arby and his clan have the cold blue, smooth skin look as they did in
halo 2 and 3.
Reach’s elites were impressive as well.
I played Halo 2 when i was about 7-8 yrs old i loved playing as Arbiter
it extended the game and made the story more interesting i was bummed that halo 3 didn’t have any arbiter missions(due to so many complaining…)
I don’t expect him to be wearing the same armor, probably a more ceremonial or bad -Yoink- style armor since the original title of the arbiter was something of the covenant.
I’ll be incredibly pissed if Thel were to look like Jul
Hopefully that doesn’t happen and maybe we might even see other elite clans/groups
with other distinctive characteristics…
Your thoughts?
Wait…so people complained that you got to play as Arby in Halo 2, and thats why they didn’t do it in Halo 3? PREPOSTEROUS!!
> Wait…so people complained that you got to play as Arby in Halo 2, and thats why they didn’t do it in Halo 3? PREPOSTEROUS!!
It was more the fact that you were constantly jumping from one story to another that people complained about, less that you had to play as an Elite, more that you couldn’t just see Master Chief’s story all the way through, and then opt to see the Arbiter’s story separately, duo Campaign, like many other games have. (Resident Evil, Sonic the Hedgehog, AvP, and many other franchises are known for pulling the “multiple campaigns” concept off without interrupting each story at so many intervals)

-.- I actually like how two separate stories weave together to bridge the connection with one another. In Halo 3, this would have been a necessity because both Thel and Chief are working together. It would defeat the purpose of having 2 separate campaigns…i guess i see why they removed it then.
Hopefully the same as in the newer comics.
Though I will miss his original helmet. There should be a point in the story where he put it back on or something. Lots of room for symbolism.
> OT: Like the pic posted above - I can’t stand his head or the thing behind his head; he looks like hunchback. One arm behind unarmored is unnecessary, how will he react to plasma landing directly onto it? So is the fact that two fingers are uncovered, does he want to lose his left and right finger? His boots are too big and I have no idea why his shins look like that. I do like the torso part and the cape, however.
The armor is probably not as covered because it might be more ceremonial. He was at a peace summit after all and probably didn’t expect an attack.
> Well I hope so. I have expected too much from 343i in the past. I don’t want him to go back to the Halo 2 and 3 Arbiter uniform, either though. To be perfectly honest, I’d like nothing more than for him to retain his Halo 2 prologue shipmaster armor.
Except, that’d probably enrage more fans than what this golden costume would. Personally, i like the new armour. The shape of the helmet should have been modelled after the original, but thats another thing altogether. My only real complaint is the bear arm. They would be wise to get that fixed.

Hey Cobra. Can you tell me if this makes sense or not? Ok, in Halo 4 we see that the new Elites (which are part of the Storm Section) have the new skin textures and were explained that they look like that due to being from another world (so I heard from Elite return thread). Lets go back to Halo 4s Prologue cut-scene and youll see the covenants first attack, along with the Spartan IIs appearance. The Elite had, no sleeves, forearm/ bicep armor just like the new Storm covies. So If Im right, the new elites are in fact the same as the ones that are part of Arby`s group (which he does not look cool anymore due to skin texture. That little detail ruined the image) and are the Redefines look for the Elites as well. Am I on to something or am I not really on point?
I like Thel`s new look except for the skin texture. I like the frill to his helmet also. I also notice his eyes are now glowing orange. I say his eyes because the under suit is only noticeable til it reaches the start of his neck. However the golden armor does look quite silly with just one arm armored. Also the undersuit looks like there barely is one and it like gear (inbented into the flesh)

The Elites you fight in Halo 4 are comprised of recruits from Sanheili colony worlds. I wouldn’t put too much stock in the comic properly depicting his skin tone though. The books say he is darker in complexion than Jul 'Mdama, so I don’t think this is really reflected too well.

Thanks for the info, and does it not bug you that some of the things in the Prologue contradicts every excuse they make for somethings? Still the skin tones for the enemies in Halo 4 really bug me.

The Prologue is full of Model issues. From the Covenant obviously wearing Covenant Remnant armour (which is Canonically very different from Pre-Schism Covenant Armour), to the Spartan IIs wearing not only Mark VI, but Master Chief’s uniquely updated Mark VI, when they should be wearing standard Mark V. And don’t even get me started on the idea of pre-schism Minors wielding Energy Swords.
No real explanation outside of the realm of artistic licence.
OT: The Arbiter’s Armour changing really bothers me, because the Arbiter armour we get in Halo 2 has been used and reused by several Arbiters. It is usually either collected from the corpse of the last Arbiter and passed on to the next, or recreated as precisely as possible. It’s Ornate by nature, and relies on Energy Shielding for defense. Changing it all of a sudden out of nowhere just doesn’t make sense to me.
But this is 343i we’re talking about, and they’ve shown a tendency to assume they can make any change they want to the story we fell in love with once upon a time and we’re too stupid or not knowledgeable enough on Halo lore to notice. Either that or they honestly have no idea what they are doing, and should hire someone who actually knows a thing or two about the Halo universe to oversee the story.
> Really? Why? Both are a change to his Arbiter outfit, one has just been in use beforehand, too.
Well, aside from the fact that his armour was perfectly fine as the Arbiter without the change, i think it would be rather pointless if they went back to his shipmaster armour…It would be pointless to have him crowned as the Arbiter with just genuine armour. Thats why Half-Jaw is there. Because he’s the shipmaster now. You’d want there to be a distinguishable difference between the 2 characters, and the logical way to do that would be, to give them different styled armour. In addition, it looks rather plain. I’d rather him make a statement as the Arbiter, than just look like a plain old elite. Wouldn’t you?

You gotta think about how the Arbiter’s armor used to symbolize him as a a heretic and a Elite that is meant to die in combat for his crimes and that was when the Covenant was still together but now after 4 years and the events of Halo 4 the changing of the armor some what makes sense its a symbol of freedom and peace that he’s trying to carry over to the rest of the old Covenant and also if he still has an energy shield his arm should still be protected you would take.
I’m assuming he’ll look like how he does in Escalation, which looks really freaking awesome!
I’m really digging his new look, but I doubt he’d wear that armor in a combat situation looks to leadership any ceremonial like.
What pisses me off so VERY MUCH is that his skin and appearance look just like the halo 4 sanghelli.
Dear god if he looks like that in-game I’m going to be devastated they can’t ruin his appearance like that.
343 did a good job on chief made him look like a walking tank just like how people saw Spartan 2’s in the books…
But they kinda failed on the rest of the characters…
