Do you think it will follow it’s predecessor’s footsteps, and have the same kind of feel as Halo Wars 1? OR do you think it will be like the total war games? Personally I’m hoping they keep it more similar to the original Halo Wars, as I liked being able to go seamlessly from small scale encounters to larger ones. ON top of that, the consoles “circle menu” was pretty awesome. I really enjoyed using it.
Though obviously Halo Wars could be improved upon. The ability to place bases where ever you wanted, instead of being locked to a predetermined plot, would be nice. And yea, larger scale battles will be nice. But idk, I’ve watched a few Total War videos on youtube, and it just seemed a little, I dunno, lack luster? Like yea, there were a lot of troops on the field and all, but it was like there were so many it didn’t give a sense of urgency or that adrenaline rush that you got whenever you brought your wolverines down on an unsuspecting fleet of hornets in Halo Wars.
That’s just me. Any thoughts? (non flaming discussion, I’m just genuinely curious to know)
It’s either gonna use Halo 5’s engine or that of the Spartan Assault/Strike games. I hope it’s gonna utilize the power of 343’s Halo 5 Engine cuz after some polishing halo 5 has started to become a really good looking game
I’m not worried too much about the engine they use. 343i has been attentive to graphics, if anything. It’s the style of the game I’m more interested in. I guess we’ll have to wait and see, I just hope it isn’t completely different to the original that it won’t feel like a transition and more like reboot.
What are we speaking about graphics? In terms of graphics im not entirely bothered, if they look good then ? GREAT. If they don’t look good then im not really bothered because halo wars is not visually beautiful
^I literally just said that xD I’m not worried about the graphics. I’m talking about the playstyle of the game, to which RTS has a number of different kinds.
I liked the way the original Halo Wars played, but I’m really hoping we have what HW was originally set to be like. See the ‘Halo Wars E3 2007 Demo’ for what I mean.
Depends on the scale of the maps, the framerate, and the population cap.
I for one thought that Halo Wars was a pretty damn good looking game, as long as you dont zoom in too far (which you shouldn’t be, anyway). I wouldn’t be against bumping up the texture resolution and polygon count, for the units, however, but as long as I can field a large enough army, I will be pleased.

> So I’m thinking the game will look like a very detailed, very colorful Halo Wars.
where did you hear assault used a modified Wars engine?
I’ve gotta be honest: When i first saw that ALPHA built of Halo wars, i was sold on the looks. Gameplay was already awesome by the looks, then the finalized product came. That’s where i had to admit the game came up short on what i expected. However did i enjoy it? Yes. What would i give the game? 8.5/10. Only reason i won’t go 10/10 i merely because the game didn’t feel RTS to me. It was more ‘‘Rush to super units then destroy enemy’’. No strats most of the time.
Anyways aside from the mostly off topicness of what i just wrote: Will Halo Wars 2 look amazing? No doubt. The 360 was extremely limited. The ONE has more power and the Cloud thingy. Halo Wars 2 could utilize anything from the Spartan Assault/Strike games, to Halo 5’s engine. confidence in their ability to built both a beautiful looking game, as well as a completely awesome over the top RTS game.
