How Do You Think The DMR Should Be Nerfed ?

There are many threads complaining about this, and I’d have to say I agree. It’s not necessarily game-breaking, but I’d agree it hinders gameplay.

So as we all know, the DMR is a teensy bit over-powered.

The DMR has laser accuracy at all ranges, giving it an advantage over all the other weapons which have limited range parameters.
Additionally, it has the fastest kill time of all the primary loadout rifles. This forces a player to use “the one weapon to rule them all” - something 343 said would be removed.

It needs a nerf.
I would suggest giving it a very low aim assist, close to that of the sniper, and make it a four-shot kill, zoomed or un-zoomed, but keep the same rate of fire.

Though it would have an even faster kill time, it is more difficult to land your shots at close range, so it becomes more of the sniper weapon it was meant to be; it takes a good amount of skill to land your shots, but kills fast.
It will be out-shot by the BR, AR, or any of the other designated CQC weapons in close quaters, but when handled by a skilled gunman, will beat the other rifles when at range.

This also makes the BR or Carbine more of the go-to weapon, something many players will be happy about.
While they still don’t have an advantage, they’re fairly easy to use and is effective over the common ranges.

So that’s my take on how the DMR should be nerfed for Halo 4’s matchmaking, what do you think ?

Aim assist:
Shots to kill:
Shots to kill (zoomed):
Rate of Fire (1-5, 4 being Carbine):
Reload Speed (1-5, 4 being Magnum):

It’s fine, and yes, I use it a LOT. The BR could use a buff, though, to make it a 4 burst kill like it was in Halo 2 and 3, but with a slightly slower fire rate than it currently has. This way it doesn’t put the boot on the other foot, so to speak. That would also help balance it off against the Light Rifle which, unlike the DMR, is actually OP.

That way it is your best option at mid range, beating out the DMR. Currently I feel the BR and DMR at mid are nearly equivalent.

It does not need a nerf.

People complain about the DMR because they are garbage with it. I LOVE the DMR (much more than the BR). I am always able to out DMR players and they call me a noob because I use it. But, they are just jelly that I am better with it than they are. I am bragging yes, but I am bragging because of the hate to the DMR.

nothing in the game needs nerfed.

> It does not need a nerf.

Yes it does.

Reduce it’s rate of fire so people can’t spam it at close ranges, then it will be fine.

Oh, you love it that much? Gee, I wonder why you don’t think it needs to be nerfed…

I think the BR, Light rifle and Carbine should be brought up to the DMR kill time. Making gameplay some what faster.

I nearly voted ‘buff it’ for the lolz.

The DMR shouldn’t be nerfed, and most people aren’t asking for one. It’s just a very small and vocal minority.

However, if 343 does make the mistake of listening to you dingalings, I would accept a slight range nerf. Still pinpoint accuracy, but something like 2/3 damage at extreme long ranges. Or I would also be okay with them buffing the BR and Carbine. Not necessarily making the BR 4 shot, but slightly increasing the range of the BR and giving the BR a little extra ammo. I don’t think it is necessary to change the kill times as they wouldn’t matter unless you’re playing competitive LAN games. However, you’d probably use the same weapons if you were playing a competitive LAN game anyway.

Damage nerf at extreme range? Not sure what effect that would have in combat, as most people’s complaints seem to be that they are in what should be effective BR range (mid range) but someone using a DMR hands their behind to them. Hence my suggestion to buff the BR so that doesn’t happen.

The only people not using DMRs at extreme range are the snipers, and their problem is not with the DMR, but the Binary Rifle (OHK without needing a headshot). Particularly because getting headshots with the DMR at such ranges is really sketchy because the reticle, even when scoped, is too big to be accurate.
