I think its safe to say that John’s armor gets heavily damaged at a certain point in the game, or at least his visor gets cracked.
How do you think this is gonna happen? My theory is that he’s going to get his battle scars from Locke. We’ve seen that Locke has his own team of Spartans as well as Chief having his own. Does this mean we’re going to see a showdown between the two groups? I really hope so.
It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if we saw Master Chief and his team kill one of Locke’s squad mates, whether it is directly or indirectly. This would really push Locke over the edge and add more fuel to the fire on his perception of John being a traitor. I can see this working both ways too. One of John’s squad gets killed by Locke and Chief is led to believe that Locke is totally hostile.
Eventually there will be a one on one battle between the two and that’s where I think Chief is going to get messed up pretty bad. I think this will mostly be due to Locke’s rage and the circumstances of their battle. But, of course, Chief will survive and continue on his mission after something breaks up their brawl.
Will he actually wear the cloak that we saw? If the E3 footage was representative of the story, then Chief is going to be alone and damaged. What happened to Blue Team? Are they still alive?
I highly doubt the damage will be caused by Locke. It will be a cold day in hell before Locke and his dime store spartans inflict any damage to Master Chief with Blue Team at his back.
The Next 72 Hours story arc … you need to freshen up on that (Halo Canon has been covering each of the issues, if you dig around in the channel you should find them; it’s pretty thorough. I asked him about doing either a recap of the “72 Hours” arc or at least put together a playlist of the videos related to it and he said he probably would closer to the game’s launch).
Anyway, here’s a brief recap of just what happened to his armor:
Chief stabs Didact in the eye with his knife. Yes, Didact returns. Didact grabs Chief’s helmet and squeezes, busting his visor. A bunch of stuff happens (involving Blue Team and a monitor known as 859 Static Carillon and a Halo Ring) that I’m not going to spoil from the comics. Chief returns to Infinity and gets all his armor repaired, including the visor and gash on his breastplate.
So in Halo 5, he’s still wearing his armor from Halo 4 (well, technically his armor from Halo 2) it’s just been all fixed up and probably kitted out so it’ll make sense for him to suddenly be able to ground pound and all that.
The Chief runs off with Blue Team, who by the way is confirmed to be in Halo 5 (I know right? Giddiness) and I believe Locke and his team are sent to find them. So all that business with his visor is from the comics (as far as we know).
Also, they’ve been releasing little pictures like puzzle pieces that have added up to THIS so far. You can see Kelly there and Linda’s rifle. So BLUE TEAM CONFIRMED.
