I’ve noticed it used quite a lot while playing today, and that it ain’t nothin’ to laugh at. However, I can not seem to use it nearly as effectively as those folks could. I’ve tried burst fire and getting in close, but they don’t seem to do much for me. Is there a serious shot-leading requirement or something?
Right now I’m currently in love with the AR, though if the Storm Rifle is a better choice, I’d love to know what makes it so.
You can’t kill someone with, a say, a carbine or BR at close range with the storm rifle. Get up close and personal.
By making it rain…PLASMA!
Unload the thing till it overheats then melee target.
Treat it like a slightly longer ranged surpressor, get close and strafe
Jump about, strafe, thruster pack, zig zag your way closer to the opponent, this will throw their aim off and horribly confuse them, also the sound and effect of being hit by plasma is also shocking and confusing, so this method will render them, er… confused and hopefully dead.
Remember the Storm Rifle isn’t your pre patch DMR firing troll grade derp bullets that require no thinking, you have to pace it with the Storm rifle to make sure it doesn’t over heat or let the spread out of hand, this is imperative for you to be able to do well.
Mainly what makes the Storm Rifle superior is the absence of a need to reload. If I time my burst correctly, theoretically I’ll only ever need to stop firing when my battery is dead.
I might also add my first automatic weapon used in Halo 4 was the Storm Rifle, and I just found it better than the AR. (Mainly due to looks, it looks so pretty!)
