Serious question. I don’t know what makes the game differentiate a tap from a hold, but I just did encounter a situation where something that was without-a-doubt just a tap got registered as a hold, causing an easy kill (potential double kill because guy nearby with half-depleted shields) to turn into an easy assist+death. Is there a way to guarantee a beat down? Apparently a micro-second of melee button is too long for that in a networked environment, and just shooting the guy instead isn’t always a good option. Running away from the start would have let me live through that encounter but I don’t really like doing that in situations that don’t call for it.
Is there a switch the higher-ups can flick to make it so I am completely unable to do those? That would actually be really nice. Not once will I ever want to do any of those animations while in War Games matchmaking, and I don’t really have any desire to bother with the commendation.

They are more a hindrance than anything. They are fun to watch for like, the first two times I see them?
Constantly seeing them every time I tap my melee button while an enemy isn’t looking at me is annoying, especially when it delays me getting the kill by a second or so and sometimes results in my death.
Most consistent way of not doing a Animation every time is to hit the sprint button right after you hit your melee button. Works 99% of the time for me and others when you don’t want that animation.
Right. I liked how in Reach, you assassinated by holding down the melee button. This gave me the option to choose whether to just get a quick kill or humiliate someone. I feel vulnerable while assassinating.
It also happens so often in Halo 4, it loses its novelty after a while.
I reckon that inconsistency is just one in a long line of them, though it would be really nice if there were a setting to turn them off for yourself (at least in future titles). Oh well.

My point exactly. Thank you.
