Serious question. I like to think im an upper middle tier to lower top tier kind of player. I think im decent and i know ive played some top top tier players and i’ve put up a fight but ive seen some people who are just stupid good at this game. What’s the secret? How’d they get that good? Is it a PC thing because that definitely gives an advantage. Im always trying to learn new strategies and tactics but in the end its usually the same result. I really only do 2s and 3s so of course i know a lot of it is reliant on good teamwork but even then i’ll play games against people who will have 20 warthogs at your base by like 5 minutes after rushing you with infantry for the first 3. Half the time i ask myself how the hell did they get all this crap so fast.
Well for 2s and 3s you want to be scouting within the first 5 minutes to see what your opponents are doing so you can prepare, as well as picking up all your supplies on your side of the map and taking power nodes as well. You can practice this in 2s and 3s against legendary AI in skirmish and find a leader you play the best with, too. It took me a while to get used to being quicker in 3s with all of the above, as well as finding the best leader for my playstyle. If you’re a more defensive type of player then pick someone like Atriox for fast and cheap base upgrades, or if you’re more aggressive, play someone like Decimus or Commander Jerome
I think the biggest things are getting your timings down and managing your macro.
Not saying that you aren’t proficient in those areas, just O know that’s usually the difference between a good player and a great one.
Yea im very quick to cap nodes and resources and the little tips and tricks here and there and my micro/macro is decent but you’re definitely right, but ive seen some teams where you’re just like holy crap

Yeah, unfortunately you will go up against teams of 2 or 3 that have played many more games than you and are communicating over voice chat etc, but if you’re doing all that stuff early on then just gotta trust you have good teammates

That’s likely two teammates playing super hard T1 while the 3rd is only contributing a bit (Bolstering the other two with just a handful of infantry or scouts, capturing nodes, etc) while mostly quick teching. Also probably a slight exaggeration there, I’m not even sure it is physically possible to have 20 hogs that fast, at least from one player. More likely it is 5-10 from one player, while the other two catching up after the rush have 2-4 each and when combined it is more like 9-18, closer to 9 at the 5min mark and scaling rapidly past that.
Side note, Game History and the graphs/build orders within are an often under utilized tool for assessing a match. Build order is somewhat limited in that it doesn’t like to show lots of upgrades or leaderpower usage/choices, and there’s lots of inferring to do, but it does give you that extra glimpse into what was behind a victory or a loss. Be wary though, the data can be incongruent sometimes. For example, your last match has the build order for yellow not really having any unit production until mantises at ~7:30, but also shows a double barracks build and the population graph showing a large spike for yellow at ~3:30 which would indicate a double barracks pump that doesn’t crop up in the build order beyond the buildings.
Play 1v1.

Honestly it must be just managing that double base, I just wonder what time of the game do they get it up to crap out that many units.
