Okay, I will be the first to admit that I’m not a competitive Halo player. My K/D ratio is barely over 1 and it’s common for me to get wiped out in Arena. But what this topic is mostly about is that I’m a coward when it comes to changing controller settings. Throughout every Halo I’ve played, I’ve always used the default button layout. Only in Halo 5 have I shown a little bit of spine by bumping my sensitivity up by 1.
So, essentially my question is this: How do I start changing up my controller settings? What configurations should I try and how should I test them in order to figure out what works for me?
Most people, including pros play between 3 and 6. I have been playing at 9 because I feel more mobile but it is harder to his precise shots so I dropped back to 6. There is another stat to turn faster, I put that up to 5, this is really important for sensitivities below 5. For the dead zones I set mine to 0 because I have Pro A controller and I have no problems with drift. If you are using a stock controller you may need to play around with it if you notice drift why you change your settings to zero. Hope this helps. I personally roll with a 7 (or more) on sensitivity while turning aim acceleration at 2. I like my aim steady and consistent, I suppose. And I find this acceptable for my tastes.
Unless your control stick drifts at 0 deadzone (outer and inner), then 0 is the most ideal setting. Deadzones are only there to combat controller wear and perhaps movement being a little too sensitive.
Sensitivity 3 or 4 works best in halo if you ask me. You need to be consistent and 5 or higher its impossible from range to hit shots.
I play on 4 sense with 3 accel and i turn around fast enough to get people behind me.
