How do you feel about the ranking system?

I rarely post on here but lately I am just getting annoyed and decided to say something.

The ranking system is by no means balanced:

  • Even if you are placed in Platinum 1 you will be going against Onyx and High Diamond guys all the time - If you play Halo to have fun, don’t play ranked solo because you will not have fun. - Regardless of your “search preference” there is no way to avoid highly ranked players who are way out of your league. - I am a mediocre player, preferably I would enjoy to play with other mediocre players rather than getting my sh*t pushed in by some sweatbanding kid - After playing roughly 4 seasons of ranked I can tell that the first 10 games to qualify doesn’t mean anything. Regardless of how well you do you will be placed in the same tier as last time (from my experience)
    On a side note:
Why is it that there is still no Oddball or King of the Hill in the game? Surely these core gametypes should have been on the disc at release.

because its crap that is all

I play more Warzone than arena. So when I ranked gold one, I am up against Platinum 6 and Diamond 2. How is that matched?

thats why I play firefight because I don’t die all the time from the bad ranking system

I was a gold/plat player. I’ve been in Onyx. You can rank up, just find a good team to play with.

I hate this ranking system though. I don’t like how it is only based on wins and not a mixture of all of the variables that makes you good.

It is based on variables, ignore what people say. How hard you get rewarded or penalised after each game is affected by where you place on the scoreboard in your team.

I agree, its incredibly frustrating. Matches are always uneven against players who are ranked well above you. I’ve seen a Champion at unranked once. Typical game will be Plats and Golds taking on Onyx players most of the time. Also, yeah, placement doesn’t seem to mean much either. I’ll win 8 out of 10 games with a high KD/A but sometimes I’m still in Plat when I feel it should be Diamond/Onyx. I can only guess it looks at your past ratings.

KOTH and Oddball need to be back too. Its honestly incerdible how they aren’t here yet. They’ve been with Halo since day one, yet 343 has left them and various others out.

Literally everyone in this thread who’s complaining about MM is sitting on a 45-55% win rate, except for Tiberious, but he doesn’t even have 100 games played yet.

Just something I found funny.

Don’t mind going against Diamond and Onyx if I have those type of people on my team. A gold/plat lobby shouldn’t be going against Diamond/Onyx.

This is true. You just don’t see all the variable at play. It takes into account killstreaks, mutli kills, etc. Idk, it might take map/weapon control as well as time alive and such. However, since they’ve never released the breakdown of how it works, we can’t say for sure. With that being said, you can advance despite what OP says. I’ve done it. I’m usually like Plat, but I’ve been placed as low as Gold 2 and climbed. However, I think even if you were to do extremely well in a match, they count a loss as a loss and you will lose progress regardless of how well you may have performed which can be kinda crappy. This season seems a little off to me though. I was playing with a friend last night and we did all our placements in Swat because it’s more casual for us. We both did fairly well throughout the placements, carrying and getting carried some games and I think we went like 6/10 or 7/10. Well when placements came around, I was expecting like mid Plat and my buddy maybe a little higher cause I had been carried the last two games. He got Plat 6 and I got Oynx 1610… This seems super off. It’d be one thing if I had gotten Diamond 1 or something, but this is a whole division above him. We have no idea why I got placed that high… But it happened. Seems like the preseason Swat rankings all over again.
