So obviously Master Chief will be getting his armor back from Halo 2-3, how does everyone feel about that after having him use different armor for Halo 4 and Halo 6.
We have discussed this rather exhaustively in the past, but gist of it is we still don’t know what armor he is wearing. The H4 suit IS his H2/H3 Mjolnir Mark VI, but for aesthetic reasons it was changed (explained away by Cortana tinkering with it while he was in cryo). The Halo 5 armor is Mark VI GEN 2, I believe (someone correct me if I’m wrong). the Mjolnir suit in the trailer is either that Mark VI GEN 2 (gone throught yet another aesthetic overhaul), an “old” Mark VI, or a completely new design that just so happens to look like what he wore in H2/H3 (the design isn’t completely identical to the old Mark VI).
I personally prefer the Halo 4/5 design. While I don’t hate it, I have always considered the Mark VI to be the least appealing Mjolnir suit (Mark V from CE is my favorite, by far) but I can’t make a final decision if I like the “new” armor or not, until we get a full body-shot of the thing.
While I did enjoy his hulking, tank-ish looking armor in Halo 4 and 5, the classic Mark VI Armor and Helmet have always remained my favorite looking set since Halo 2, so I’m looking forward to seeing the full set in this new engine.
I love it. The Halo 4/5 armour looks so badass in concept art but to me, there is something off about how it looks in-game - a good example of this is how cool the armour looks in the ending cinematic of Halo 4 compared to the in-game cutscenes.
I feel great about it. Not only because of the armor, but because of the game’s overall art style direction. I don’t care for the style of other Spartan’s armor in Halo 5, but have liked Chief’s look throughout all of Bungie’s and 343’s games. With the modern graphics we have, the armor (and game) is going to look awesome.
I honestly enjoyed all of his variations.
My honest opinion is that I like more the H4/H5 armor. It just looks more military and tactical and realistic, just like a spartan should be. I did like Chief’s armor in the past but 343i did a really good job with the current armor. When I see Chief’s old armor it now reminds me like a power ranger suit or something like that. If 343i change the armor or update it that is fine, but I would be sad that they would go back to the old armor out of the blue.
If they try to make his armor as close as Red Team’s armor in HW2 that would be awesome, they really nailed the art work and Spartan armor in HW2.
Its a mix and not the armor from old games judging from part that was shown.
Otherwise, what was shown looked better than H4 forwards armor. And if its in the game and if the rest of the armor looks more like what was shown and less like H4 forwards then its good enough for me even though i still prefer the old armor at this point.
I personally love the Halo 4-5 armor but will enjoy having an old school armor on again.
I’m indifferent on the armor. I had no problems with the design of the new armors, but they could have used a few scratches and scuffs instead of looking like a showroom corvette
The Armor looks sweet to me. As long as there’s not 50 different variations of it…

343 had terrible multiplayer armor, but I really like the look of chief and blue team.
Every armour that Chief has had looks great in my opinion, all for their own reasons.
If they are going back to his H2/H3 look, I’m hoping they at least take a bit of inspiration from the H4/H5 mjolnir just to prevent it feeling like too much of a sudden turn, and to give it a bit of grounding both for fans of the newer games going in, and from a lore perspective. but from what I’ve seen of it so far it looks pretty nice.
I didn’t have a problem with 343’s chief design, but I greatly prefer 2/3 armor so I’m happy about it.
I think it’s kind of odd how Chief is going back to his classic armor after having two games where he has “new” armor. I guess that 343 is fully committing to the classic art style.
I’m happy about it. I like his 4/5 variation but I love the H2/3 armour so much.
Why does everyone think this is the armor from Halo 2, and 3? It looks different to me… am I missing something. It looks sleeker. And far more proportionate than the awful H2A cutscenes
I am largely indifferent, I agree with most everyone’s opinion that H4 and H5 were cool but I still love the classic look.
If Chief’s chest armour damage is missing (or just not present) we are all doomed.
