How do you feel about halo reach’s matchmaking for example i feel rather pleased by it and it is ok but on the other hand i kind of feel that it just needs something i just can’t figure it out. so tell me how you feel about halo reach’s matchmaking
Ranking System. Better maps.
Betrayers, noobs, bad team mates and quitters…
But seriously, it is not enjoyable when you encounter the above and I’ve been placed with players like the above pretty frequently the last few months, more than ever. I cannot enjoy it anymore because of these idiotic players.
My biggest problems with it, is host selection. Shots to head dont register, grenades land right next to someone and dont kill them, it seems skill is trumped by host.
> My biggest problems with it, is host selection. Shots to head dont register, grenades land right next to someone and dont kill them, it seems skill is trumped by host.
i agree with you on that
It’s alright. Could be a lot better IMO. BTB heavies is stoopid, you get shafted for your kill count most of the time. TU needs to be in TS and just get rid of SS. Bleed thru makes health packs completely useless. Bring back Evade in MT. Jetpack is a map breaker. Come to think about it replace Jetpack with Evade. Where the hell is Cliffhanger and Atom?! So Renegade got a face lift, in essence it’s not even Renegade anymore, it’s almost a completely different map now. I could go on…
I like the idea of Reaches matchmaking. Halo is a competitive game, or just as so should have a competitive side which both halo 2 and halo 3 showed with ranked and social playlist.
When Reach came out and there where no ranks i found it kinda boring (being a more competitive gamer) and if it wasn’t for my love of the firefight and the fact i wanted inheritor and HaloCharts/Tracker, i probably wouldn’t have played it…
Reach really does apply to the more casual side of the community and i believe that it would be able to appeal to both casual/competitive side… The only problem i have ever really heard was that the competitive players would try and take their competitive style in to social.
i rather enjoy it, but it could use more maps though, other than forge world
I think it would be nice if there was a bigger selection of maps to vote for on the same page rather than just 3. I also think that once you vote for a map you shouldnt be able to change your vote, and in the event of a tie, rather than the top map winning it should go to the map that had the votes first
Friendly fire in certain gametypes and betrayal booters. I was on a roll today in swat and this guy gets in the way intentionally just so he can boot me, I checked in theater afterwards and he quit the game after booting me and our team lost. -Yoink- holes in multiplayer games is normal but reach is like a depository of -Yoink- holes. Never encountered so many unfriendly people in other games as I have in reach.
This is a start, I guess.
- I never get to play on DLC I paid for.
- Horrendous betrayal boot system.
- Immature children. (I don’t mean real kids, just people who act like them)
- Hate messages when you have a bad game.
- Hate messages when you have a good game.
- Rediculous credit cap that limits your play time/rank gain ratio. (I don’t work for free)
- Borrowed campaign maps.
- Over powered weapons. (Weapons that reward spamming and luck over experience and skill)
- Ranks that take forever to achieve. (Goes along with credit cap)
- Armor abilities. ( These should always be picked up on map, never starting equipment.)
- Paper mâché vehicles that handle like a matchbox car on ceramic tile.
- Lack of aerial combat.
- Objective playlists are worthless as all playlists are now just kill fest for credits.
- People who STILL think your rank means skill. (Rank means nothing but time played so why impose a credit cap? Logic fail there.)
- Banning players who are bad. (Touchy subject I know, but why bother learning to play a game if it’s going to get you banned? This happened as a direct result of the credit based ranking system. Thank you AFKers. )
- Getting rare medals that don’t get rewarded because someone got the first kill. (Has anyone not gotten a First Strike medal yet?)
- Griefers and team killers. (I lost a lot of perfections thanks to you. Why?)
- Achievements that are tied to DLC that doesn’t come up.
- Pre-unlocked skulls. (In past games, finding hidden skulls was a party in itself)
- Broken cannon campaign. (While good and added a new level of emotion to the series, leaves you with more questions than answers.)
I think that’s it for now. I can think of a lot more, but I don’t want to create a giant wall that no one will read.

I read it all, and would read more.
I think it’s pretty good and well put together. However, I feel like some map choices are chosen way too much over others, like in the Living Dead playlist, I never get to play on Arena Zealot or Spooky Base, instead it’s always Uncaged (hate that map with my soul) and 2 versions of Boardwalk. And too many Grifball maps when they’re all the same outline, which is basically a big, square, flat area.
Worst matchmaking of any Halo game ever.

The sad thing is I wish you were lying…
> 1. I never get to play on DLC I paid for.
At least I’m getting my monies worth in the Anniversary playlist.
> 2. Horrendous betrayal boot system.
Tell me about it. I never get to boot anyone who betrays me.
> 7. Borrowed campaign maps.
I can deal with the multiplayer maps borrowed from the campaign, but the firefight maps that were borrowed from the campaign are just so bad.
> 9. Ranks that take forever to achieve. (Goes along with credit cap)
If custom challenges were not implemented, it would be worst.
> 18. Achievements that are tied to DLC that doesn’t come up.
I had to boost to get most of the Defiant and Anniversary specific achievements.

I think that’s it for now. I can voice my opinion on more of your opinions, but I don’t want to create a giant wall that no one will read.

I didn’t think anyone would actually read it. LOL. So, the numbers not shown above you agree with? Many of these I pulled off of the forums as the top “issues”. To clarify 18, the achievements do work, but getting the right map, and gametype tend to be where the actual problem is. The rest of them, I agree with your wording a lot better. Thanks.
