im split on this because yes it is part of halo to control a map using power weapons but in FFA the way people spawn i don’t think power ups are right the way its set up right now. I think power weapons should spawn in 2 minutes after the game starts kind of like when one gets picked up you have to wait for the next spawn.
The entire point of FFA is to hoard power weapons in order to become the alpha monkey. Personally I think we have the right amount of power weapons, because that’s what FFA revolves around.
What im saying is that the power weapons should spawn 2 minutes into the game that way players who spawn next to them dont have the advantage.
Map Controll is for team games. Ffa needs to be balanced so the person with the most skill wins.

Map control, while and important aspect in team games, is still completely necessary in FFA.
Personally, I think the power weapons being as they are is perfectly fine. I’ve been playing Halo FFA for a very long time and it has always been this way. Sometimes you get lucky and spawn beside the rockets and sometimes you don’t, but that spawn advantage is usually gone pretty quickly into the game. It isn’t entirely uncommon for that spawn to snowball into a decisive win, but that typically only happens when the player already outclassed everyone else and would have won anyways.
I don’t think it would hurt to delay the power weapon spawns, in fact it could possibly make the playlist more enjoyable, but I don’t see it as an issue that really needs to be addressed.
Yeah it’s always been like this. Classic Halo FFA.

I really like power weapons in ffa. I had one game on the rig about a week ago. The other five people either really liked me or really didn’t like that I picked up the scatter shot. Because it was the first 30 seconds of the game me in first with 11 kills, and the guy in second had 2 kills
I see what you’re saying. I guess it’s luck of the draw when starting. Someone spawning near rockets could, theoretically, control the match. People are coming to his/her area for rockets, therefore bringing them ammo. Camping around that spot waiting, is a sure way to get kills. Only problem is when you get shot by 3-4 people at the same time.
I just wish that they didn’t tell you the power weapons are coming. Everyone rushes it at 10 seconds so it becomes an explosive engagement with over half the players at once which sounds cool, but the experience of it is just frustrating. I just want more one on one engagements. Tired of getting shot in the back when I’m already engaged on someone.
Power weapon control is too easy with the now 6 players in FFA. FFA has become a camp fest where 4 players camp while the other 2 constantly spawn die.
FFA needs to go back up to 8 players, there just needs to be a split second period of invulnerability where you can shoot or take damage so you wont spawn die. I no longer play FFA due to what its become.

To an extent. For example spawning by the sniper in Lockout is good. Still takes skill to use it. Rockets on the other hand takes away the skill element. Ffa on midship was perfect. Everyone had the same weapons and normally the best man wins.

Yea it needs to go back to 8 player. 6 player just isn’t the same.

This. In the older Halo games you had to pay attention to the clock to get a power weapon when it spawns. That’s how it should be.
Weapon advantage in a FFA mode, makes it very random, and has been that way for longer than Halo has been around. Maybe the randomness makes it more fun to some though, but who knows. I think weapon-specific settings like Magnum only, BRs or Snipers where it’s all about positioning, awareness, and aiming skills would work better. But, that’s just me. Even Rockets only worked better. It’s just not as random in my opinion.
While it’s a change we would make in Customs, try getting the Devs to make those adjustments. Haha yeah right, but who knows with 343; they seem to buckle under peer pressure more than Bungie ever did, but then again they have MLG pros giving feedback now.
Power weapons have always been in FFA yes i know, but halo 5 is more balanced than the other halos and why not tweak FFA
