How do you feel about Halo Infinite currently, and what are simple things that you feel can improve the quality of life?

Disclaimer:
I specifically play 4v4 modes.
So none of these changes would be proposed for BTB.

likes:
Gameplay loop: shooting, movement, shield recharge. All of it feels great.

dislikes (in order of most important > least):

Progression system - I want to rank up based on performance. I don’t want to chase oddball in quick play in order to unlock a grey helmet that I saw in halo reach. Get a perfection, then be awarded 50xp.

content - I need more maps. 1 new map is not enough for a new season. 3-5 would be better, with additional community content being introduced via forge and the forge community. Frequent votes on waypoint for new content. Maps can be shown on forgehub. The custom game community can te at t for bugs, I am sure the halo insider community could show interest here. As for gametypes - don’t ever force me out of my preferred party of 4 to play a new gametype ever again. LMS was diabolical and I hated being forced into this to win poorly designed cosmetics.

cosmetics - not exciting enough. I need pablo Schreiber (including pornstache from orange is the new black), Ltn Johnson, cortana, capes, broken armour, shiny options, cross core, colours for gods sake! I don’t care about another helmet that looks like all the others - or an attachment for a helmet…unless it is cat ears, a flower, and iron man suit, a t-800 skull. Thing bigger. Think more exciting.

There we go. Constructive

Also I don’t like the combination of random weapon spawns and weapon challenges. There’s gotta be a better way to do this.

I dont get how adding a refund system wouldnt greatly improve things to you and be counter productive. also my second suggested I was stating what needs to happen first before it would be worth adding that feature

Simple requests-
Please stop cramming so many gametypes inside of one playlist. It feels like a “gametype lottery” every time I go into certain playlists.

Change the Scope glare into a flicker or a glint like a real scope instead of a tactical flashlight.

Not-so-simple requests-
Please add more story, the latest three Halo games have ruined my love for the Campaign. I’m losing interest in what happens next… and I don’t want that to happen.

I also think a progression or career path would give extra incentive to keep players around for longer.

Obviously, Desync and Server issues need to be fixed but that is proving to be not-so-simple or… not so important?

I called you forward, not because of your idea, but because of your comment at the end

and making a better store system not this weekly single season crap first.

A comment like this is not constructive as it is condescending, this is why I referred you back to the original disclaimer

I actually appreciate your idea regarding the shop, and do not think it’s counter productive. When I am referring to counter productive, I mean in-sighting condescending comments in order to back up your point/suggestion; instead of letting the point/suggestion speak for itself

This is what I said in regard to changes in the shop:

Suggestions such as a PvE playlist, 5v5 - 6v6 playlist, Rotating playlists are great examples of how small changes (adding / adjusting matchmaking playlists) can drastically improve the quality of life; not to say that the other suggestions for gameplay, fixes, functionality of the shop and UI systems would not be great too

Keep in mind when I called you forward, you weren’t the only one I was referring to. You actually provided a resolution, so I would like to acknowledge and thank you for that. My apologies if it came across the wrong way

Thanks again for providing your feedback in the thread, appreciate it homie

I mean if you dont call something bad people and devs wont think its bad simple as that

I’m with you on both of these, but I want to elaborate on your second comment.

I really liked the inheritor system from reach, I know it was a pointless rank, but I loved unlocking stuff and seeing how much game experience I had in comparison to the other team. You could always tell the hardcore fans from their rank - regardless of whether they were actually good or not.

The game needs to be able to run smoothly first and foremost.

If you don’t have an Xbox Series S or the latest GPU, you are guaranteed a bad time in Infinite and unable to play higher than 60 FPS without your driver choking and heaving. The optimization in this game is the absolute worst I’ve ever seen but it still looks like a 360 era game.

How and why.

Howzabout fixing watchdog?

Idk about everyone else but I have alot of armor, weapon skins, stances, and vehicle skins. The way I like to play is before each match I change to a different core (makes it fun for me) and part of the change of look is me changing up my weapon/vehicle skins/stance/AI to make my character standout visually.

I think adding a system where you select your core type and then can have the full “customize” tab for that individual core would be something great and make customization a little more easier to express and encourage more purchases since you now aren’t limited to choosing just one thing across the board for your Spartan.

To make it as simple as possible I would like to change the “Customize” Tab to be tailored to the core you have currently selected. That means the Weapons Bench, Vehicle Bay, Body & AI, and Spartan ID all save to the current core type. Allowing you to freely use all of the customization options you already have.

If we took this idea a step further adding the option to choose your core type and having 5-10 core slots to customize would be pretty awesome as well.

Making all of the challenges earnable in Bot matches is something I would enjoy greatly. As long as they’re not game mode dependent (like do X in CTF or do X in Oddball), then that could greatly reduce the grind and allow PvP to be played for fun. And players in PvP can actually focus on winning the match without having to consider throwing the game for the sake of challenges.

Also, I would want achievements currently earnable in matchmaking to also be earnable in Custom Games.

If 343 wants this game to succeed, they need to start listening to their fans. The season 2 update illustrated that they do not care what the fans’ requests are, with quotes that basically amounted to, “We know you guys wanted this feature to come back, but we’re not going to put it in the game.” This is a huge slap in the face to all of their fans, whether they wanted that feature or not, because it shows how little 343 regards the opinion of their fanbase.

This is a game that the players are meant to play, but in reality 343 has created a shop with a Halo themed waiting room. And when players step forward with ideas about how to save their sinking ship, 343 told us all to kick rocks.

If they want this game to succeed, they need to stop pretending like they know whats best for the player and start opening their ears up to what the players have to say about their game.

Short list: Bring back Voice Chat, All Chat, pre- and post- lobby. Let us inspect each other’s gear and stats. Shorten the countdown to start matches/matchmaking. Let AI Bots use vehicles. Don’t use bots in Slayer. Make playlists for each gamemode. Let there be more than 4 bots per team in customs/training, especially for BTB maps. Finally, add community custom modes to regular MP as a rotation, as it’s more interesting than just Fiesta.

Thank you all very much for your perspectives, comments, suggestions & insight

I am going to respond in 3 replies:

  1. Main Response
  2. Secondary Response
  3. Further Acknowledgments

This will be the main response, with the next following post being the Secondary Response

I have put together an analysis based on the responses in this thread, points that I would worth noting as they have been repeated and fall under the catergory of - in my opinion - simple and easier fixes to the game

— SBMM
This is a common theme that I have found in general and in this thread. Now I do not know if this would be an easy fix, but I feel like this could drastically improve the quality of life; by setting it back to how it was in Halo 3 as an example

As I have said previously (and like others have said), when a game is more fair, it is far more competitive and challenging, rather than the balance of hard and easy games. Since all of the games (a part from BTB & FFA), 4v4 is the only available playlist, and I feel that this is innately a competitive setting; based on HCS being 4v4

Again I don’t know if this is an easy thing to do based on the engine, but I really feel that this would rapidly improve the game & make it a far enjoyable experience for everyone

— Playlists
Another theme I’ve found, is the selection of playlists. In hand with the current SBMM, the only available playlists to win down - in my opinion - are Bot Bootcamp, Fiesta & possibly BTB

Very much like the endgame of Halo 5, even the playlist Super Fiesta (this case Fiesta) was even a competitive playlist, as there were no other playlists for people to wind down

The suggestions I have seen are to introduce different playlists, and perhaps even bring back a rotation. Another suggestion would be to introduce more PvE, which I feel could go in hand with another playlist for higher difficulty of bots (Spartan) with a wider range of gametypes

The other suggestion I have which has also been mentioned, to introduce a fun Action Sack style playlist. How I could see this being a possibility, is to incorporate the fun gametypes in Rumble Pit - then removing them from that playlist - and also the fun gametypes for team based settings. Innately being a 8 player playlist, this would be very much possible like Action Sack in Halo 5

I will be making this specific suggestion in another thread, but is the summary I have put together regarding playlists

— Store
This is another common suggestion that I found. The suggestions I found for the store were:

  • Better weekly rotations (and in hand, better items)
  • No FOMO regarding exclusive items, making them available again eventually
  • Introducing a refund system
  • Free items

The two things I would like to respond to are the Better weekly rotations & Free items

Regarding the better weekly items, I feel like there are many items that have not been released to the shop, that can be observed being worn by the bots in game; including the lock pieces in the armour hall. I do not know if they are being withheld due to lack of content, but I feel there is surprising a number of items that could be rotated in the shop; that have only been in rotation once or twice since initial release

Now regarding free items, we already receive these during Events. In regards to more free items (like HCS coating giveaway), this is a holistic idea that I feel would highly benefit the community as a whole

Introducing better way to earn credits, rather than only earning a limited amount in the battle pass. Again, I will be creating another thread regarding this specifically, but this is an idea that I feel would be of huge benefit; nurturing the relationship between the community & 343, thus more profit and further contributions made to the game

— Player Collision
This is something that has also been stated a lot, since release and generally throughout the forums and the community. The reason why I feel like this would be a simple fix, is that it has already been done for the opposing team; thus it can be further improved in general / for fellow teammates

I feel like this is something that would have to be reflected and acknowledged by the community first, to find out whether a majority of the community would like player collision or the latter

Again, I would like thank you all for your contributions to this thread

You have all helped build upon my recommendations and suggestions to really help improve the quality of life for Infinite

I understand that there are big issues like de-sync and lack of maps being a contributor, but I feel like these simple suggestions are a great way to improve the quality of life as a whole

I could only tag so many people, hence why I have posted multiple responses. The following are what I would deem as the ‘less simple’ fixes, however simpler ones to improve the quality of life

— BTB
The points that have been brought forward are:

  • Fixing vehicle spawns so they are not random
  • Buffing vehicles
  • Adding other gamemodes
  • Other fixes*

I personally have experience in how the random spawns and drastically change the game, as well as buffing vehicles / weapons. I will be creating a thread where I feel like there could be simple fixes made in this playlist, to make this a far better experience than what it already is

I do feel like a couple of these suggestions are simple. I just found that it fell under the 5th idea regarding ‘simple’ fixes

I still acknowledge these as valid and important suggestions and points

I do want to make some acknowledgements regarding the ‘not so simple’ fixes, as these are small ideas that could also drastically improve the quality of life. I’ve found it’s always the little things that can make a huge difference

These suggestions are:

  • Specific XP progression based on game performance
  • Region / Gamemode / Map selector
  • Ranked progression changed to tradional 1 - 50 (e.g 50 Onyx, 40 Diamond, 30 Platinum, 20 Gold, 10 Silver etc)
  • Service Record
  • Saving Armour Core settings (preslected core)
  • Accessibility Settings (outline modifier, hitmarkers etc)

Then the following would be: more maps & more neutral equipment

I do not know if some of these things have already been taken into consideration, but I feel like it’s important to acknowledge them and bring them forward

Again - to those that it relates to - I would like thank you all for your contributions to this thread

I called you forward on this, as I understand the notion but I have already addressed this as being a core issue that is being resolved. This thread is to gather simple ideas and suggestions in order to improve the quality of life

I also play on the original Xbox One and experience these issues too. I do put up with it, however, I still enjoy the game as much as I can; acknowledging these things and keeping them in mind

Hope you can understand where I am coming from and am open to anything further you would like to add or say; please know there is no ill intention behind my response

@ZappyStatue

I personally feel that adding the same challenges to PvE would decrease the value of certain challenges. Given the introduction of another PvE playlist, I feel like there is no reason to add PvE challenges too

Regarding Custom Games achievements again I don’t feel like the same ones should be available (as then all of them can be rigged) however add / include some of the achievements so people have more reason to go to Custom Games

Would you be able to be more specific to what you are referring to? Would love to hear your perspective and insight, as I am not aware of the specifics you are referring to*

Thank you all for taking the time to read what I had to say

I really do appreciate all of your perspectives and your insight, as you all have something of value to share

Much love homies, thank you for contributing :purple_heart:

I read all your comments.

I want:

MORE MAPS:

forge could be used to apply this in practice with the minimum dev time to positive effect ratio. Forge hub is a community known for their amazing maps and creative competitions will allow the community to get involved in bringing new content to MP. A final test could be carried out by 343i or halo insiders and, boom, you have this content enabled frequently and a massive increase in community that coincides with the introduction of forge in season 3.

IMO this is more important than anything else you mentioned.

PROGRESSION

So we have to jump from playlist to playlist for the current challenge system. This is how you unlock content. This is not a progression system. 343i have stated they’re looking into this, and I really hope they move to a traditional model, with playtime resulting in a rank (think recruit to inheritor - a badge of honour for playtime sunk into the game) and perhaps some paltry reward such as Spartan credits to increase store engagement.

This way if I want to just play TS I can, and my experience is not (psychologically) wasted.

I literally don’t care about anything else. You make some absolutely valid points in your 3x posts, but I feel you missed the most important ones - which I have detailed here for you

To OP - why not create a POLL including all of your suggested points. To order which the community feel are the most important to deal with first.

Then Maybe bring us all in on that thread and we can vote, then continue specific discussions there?

I agree with you, and I really appreciate you bringing these points forward

I am very familiar with Forgehub and how the community maps have been put into matchmaking, more specifically Halo 5; I have been a part of testing lobbies to update maps and get maps into matchmaking

I do agree and I also feel that it is also more important. This post is more focused on, what are the simple things that could drastically improve the quality of life? To clarify though, I feel that Forge being introduced again will in fact make a HUGE impact to the quality of life

Thank you for also clarifying the PROGRESSION, I really appreciate this insight and perspective too

I love this idea and will definitely being going ahead with this. Thank you very much ‘again’ for your insight and perspective

There are things that I did miss and didn’t think of, and I really appreciate you sharing and contributing

Much love homie, thank you  :purple_heart:

Simple things -

  • Have a separate BTB mode on the Arena maps. Infantry only. Think Nuketown from CoD. Madness.

  • Super fiesta BTB

  • Tankfest BTB. Or other vehicle focused BTB.

  • Find some way of making an Warzone Assault style mode where you push up the map on the BTB maps.

  • Create seasonal “tournaments” in the Ranked, so at the end everybody gets ranked and you can track who the best player is. If they win or are in top hundred you get a unique emblem. You could also extend this to Teams specifically.
