How do you create your loadouts?

How do you create your loadouts? And how often do you change them?

Do you create your loadouts to fit your style of gameplay? To excel on specific maps? To give you an advantage in certain gametypes? To cover all-ranges in battle? To cover different roles in War Games (heavy, marksman, all-around)? A cheap loadout consisting of a DMR and Boltshot? Or to match what equipment characters from different franchises use?

My loadouts used to be top-notch but they’re not working too well for me right now. Can you suggest to me a few good loadouts that I can use? I have the Halo 4 strategy guide and the writers suggested the “best” loadouts, but I don’t find them that effective. I also find the Thruster Pack quite useless in War Games.

I made my LO’s according to what playlist I play a lot.

Most of my loadouts tend to be very similar in terms of AA and tactical/support packages, just the weapon differs (e.g. lifle or DMR).

I do have a seperate loadout for KOTH though, geared towards CQB and surviability.

My friend and I were discussing what tactical and support packages to use in each loadout the other day. We both thought that since Halo 4 is a pretty fast-paced game now with instant spawn, having the same Tactical Packages and Support Upgrades in each loadout is ideal so that you can get used to them and know what Packages and Upgrades you are using. I think that many people get seriously confused of what Tactical Packages and Support Upgrades they have in battle if all of their loadouts are VERY different.

i try to balance it with different AA’s and the rest for certain gametype/maps.

my favorite right now for about all is,

DMR
AR
frag
Jet pack
firepower
dexterity.

one for infinity slayer, one alternate with requisition mod on, one for BTB, one for CTF/KOTH/Oddball, one for adrift because thats the only map that plays diff than all the others lol

Pretty cool loadout, mind if I try this one out?

I haven’t placed both the DMR and AR in a single loadout with Firepower before.

Wouldn’t Adrift be an Infinity Slayer loadout? Adrift is a pretty small map and I find that most games on Infinity Slayer takes place on small maps. I usually used the AR in Infinity Slayer and it worked extremely well, but now it’s not working out for me for some reason. I think the BR and Boltshot (I know it’s a really cheap gun) or Plasma Pistol is the best for Infinity Slayer.

I’m a simpleton when it comes to loadouts. So long as it has Frags and Thruster Pack it’s a good loadout imo.

I’ll choose a very simple package too. I always have Mobility or MAYBE Requisition/Wheelman as Tactical, and always Dexterity.

I’ll definitely stay away from automatics whenever I can, though. I’ll take a Carb over an AR any day. Ideally, BR.

yeah, but Adrift is the one that plays differently. I don’t even consider Complex as a 4v4 map, I use my BTB class for it.

My adrift class is DMR / plasmapistol / frag / resupply/ ordinance priority

The long halls/corridors are perfect for noob combo, and you don’t need dexterity because there’s a lot of cover to reload. Also, power weapons are better on this map, especially shotgun, sniper and sword.

BTB is DMR/plasmapistol/plasma nade/grenadier/ammo
4v4 is DMR/boltshot/frag/resupply/dexterity

I used to use firepower for DMR/AR, but DMR still beats AR if you dont miss shots.

I make up my loadouts based on what I want to do/play:

Driver:

DMR
Plasma Pistol
Plasma Grenades
Operator
Mobility (maybe can’t remember for sure without looking)
Still figuring out what AA I think is best for this, I’ve used Hologram, Promethean Vision, and Thrusters I think, but decided against Thrusters.

The point of this loadout is for when I want to drive vehicles. Its set up to help me get to a vehicle like the Scorpion on Exile for example, or to take out vehicles as well, because if someone on the other team is driving them then obviously I can’t.

Thrusters doesn’t seem to help get me to the vehicles any faster since it covers so little ground when used, so I ruled it out as the AA for this loadout. I’m thinking Promethean Vision will end up being the most useful one since I could see an enemy player trying to get a vehicle I’m also trying to get, before they see me, and hopefully that would give me an edge so I can kill them to get it.

BTB:

DMR
Plasma Pistol
Plasma Grenades
Personal Ordnance
AA Efficiency
Hologram

This loadout is for when I play Big Team Slayer, or other game types with a lot of people or a large map. Sometimes I use it during 4 v 4 games when the fighting is kind of spread out. AA Efficiency lets me send out 2 holograms during a single fight instead of just one, so it seems very helpful to me.

Covenant:

I only have 4 loadouts that actually have purposes, so this is my kind of random one lol. Its just some Covenant weapons. I don’t remember what all I have it set up with right now because I never use it really.

KOTH:

I have this loadout set up for KOTH, but it could be useful for any games where I’m defending an area, or need to get to an area fast.

Assault Rifle
Maybe Battle Rifle, I can’t remember this loadout off the top of my head
Dexterity (maybe???)
Mobility (maybe???)
Firepower is obviously used in this one

Armor ability I’m still testing. I’ve tried Hologram, Regeneration, and Auto-Turret. Regeneration is out. It felt totally useless. Auto-Turret is also extremely likely out. Hologram might be the one I go with, but it can’t be fired out of a hill you’re inside of, so that makes it less useful.

Slayer:

Assault Rifle or Storm Rifle (not sure yet, but Suppressor is out)
Magnum (might switch to Boltshot if I get better with it)
AA Efficiency
Personal Ordnance
Hologram

I think I might change my Covenant loadout to a defensive loadout for when I want to fight from a distance to try to stay alive for whatever reason, and use Invisibility as my AA with AA efficiency.

I design my loadouts around a specific scenario. For times when mobility is key, I usually rock a jetpack and the sprint mod. I probably use that the most. With games like Dominion where holding down a location is necessary, I’ll grab a 2nd primary, ammo, and the sentry or regenerator AA. I also always have a loadout with active camo available. I find that building a loadout around a map can become a liability if someone starts playing unconventionally.

I name all my loadouts after the standard RPG Classes:

Warrior, Ranger, Rogue, Cleric, Wizard

Warrior:
Defining ability: TA = Firepower
Typical weapons: AR + DMR
Usual AA: Jetpack, Pro Vision or HLS
Usual SA: Dexterity, Ammo, Explosives

Ranger:
Defining Ability: TA = Mobility
Typical Weapons: DMR + PP
Usual AA: Pro Vision, Thrusters, Jetpack
Usual SA: Ammo or Awareness

Rogue:
Defining Ability: AA = Camo
Typical Weapons: DMR + Boltshot
Usual TA: AA Efficiency
Usual SA: Sensor or Awareness

Cleric:
Defining Ability: AA = Regeneration Field
Typical Weapons: Storm Rifle/AR + Magnum
Usual TA: AA Efficiency or Shields
Usual SA: Explosives

Wizard:
Defining Ability: AA = Hologram or Autosentry
Typical Weapons: DMR + Magnum
Usual TA: AA Efficiency or Fast Track
Usual SA: Ordinance Drop

I usually pick Ranger the most because I play Big Team. Lot of area to cover so Mobility is key. Pro vision + Ammo are great for making good use of ordinance.

If there’s not power weapons nearby the starting area then I pick Wizard to get myself a faster ordinance drop. Then when I die I select Ranger or Rogue for when I actually select my ordinance drop.

Cleric is great if you have a decent team who talks to each other.

Warrior is best for regular Slayer with a lot of CQB

I tried using my Driver loadout a few times, but people stole all the vehicles, my teammates destroyed all the vehicles or the vehicle that I was IN, or would not get into my Warthog or Mongoose :frowning:

The problem with making loadouts built for specific scenarios is that you don’t always know what combat situation you will be in. Let’s say that you had the “Gunner” mod in your loadout. You would have been a lot better suited for combat with another mod if there was not a turret in sight.

I never have a problem driving when I decide I’m going to drive and pick my driver loadout lol… you must have bad luck lol. :frowning:

Yeah, I do kind of have bad luck. Last week while I was eating lunch with my girlfriend I left to go to the washroom. My girlfriend left to use the washroom at that time too without telling me and we had our food stolen :frowning:

My first was based strictly on fighting style at the time. I was still trying out Spartan Ops then, so I really didn’t need to make a competitive load out yet. I basically ran through the campaign a few times and picked the weapons that I was most successful with (the BR and pistol). I didn’t pick any armor abilities or other things for the first few weeks. I really didn’t think I needed them.

Eventually, I created a something based on what I thought would help me in War Games. IE…what I saw others were using on me. I ending up changing this load out a lot. It turns out that most peoples’ fighting style are not my best fighting style, so I really was horrible with their choice of weapons. But this is also when I started also picking armor abilities and skills. I think I ended up switching my primary weapon in my original load out as a result. I ultimately made 3 Load Outs from this experience. One for basic use and Spartan Ops. One for long range attacking. And one for close quarters combat.

When I eventually unlocked the other load outs, I ended up making one for Covey only weapons and one for Forerunner only weapons, just so that I could possibly earn some weapons commendations on them. I probably will end up changing them after I try them though.

=d

I make my loadouts based upon certain playing styles.

I have one primary one, which is my most versatile loadout. DMR, AR, frags, camo, extra ammo and the extra primary weapon.

Then I have a BR version which is more suited for maps like Haven. I also have an AR version that is suited for pure assault playstyle.

My other 2 are build to accomodate certain commendations. One for Covie weapons, one for Forerunner.

But my main one is build around my playing style. Long range and offensive, but with a tendency to get into cover when neccecary (hence the camo).
