How Do You become a monitor?

I want to know how you become a monitor, not one like 343 Guilty Spark of corse, a waypoint monitor.

Have you never wondered why 343i has such a fascination with the majestic creatures and why only a handful of Forum Monitors are active?

I actually don’t know, but I couldn’t resist throwing a Harry Potter reference out there :sweat_smile: (though who’s to say it isn’t true? :thinking:)

You need to be picked for the role by 343 staff, from my understanding. They’ll know better but from similar experience I assume they look for the following:

  • Helpfulness - Maturity - Adherence to forum rules - Forum activity - Ability to resolve conflict, etc.Basically evidence that suggests you’d do well as a moderator and not abuse the powers given. If you’re on their radar and they’re looking for mods you might be in with a chance, but I wouldn’t worry about it too much this early on; trust takes a while to build so if you focus on it too much you may be disappointed.

Becoming a monitor requires you to be the best. You need to be able to quote the most obscure facts of existence and be familiar with the evil that lurks in the hearts of men. You need to be able to wade through the foulest sewers and the most egregiously disgusting landfills while holding your head eye and your hammer to the sky. You need to be able to discern the difference between two florets pinned together at 20,000 feet. You need to be able to leap from an aeroplane with nothing, but a surfboard and smile and ride the hurricane all the way down. You need to do all these things and more, but most importantly you asked. You asked and

You must strive to be the absolute pinnacle, like no other being has been in all of time.
To capture them must be your true examination, to instruct them must be your purpose for being.
You must journey across this Earth, locating both longitudinally and latitudinally.

You haven’t heard of the “monitor ritual”? You must first defeat a monitor in a duel to the death to take their place!!!

Start typing out “locked” on forum post for the proper training before you get that promotion, you’ll do just fine. The requirement is to lock every third forum post in general discussion for your daily quota.
