I’ve completed campaign on normal until mission 5, then played heroic and it was the perfect combination of challenge and excitement. So, since I beat campaign on heroic, I decided to attempt legendary. Key word: ATTEMPT! I tried mission one and I was tossed around like a rag doll! Even those tiny little grunts had the capability to blast me to bits with their little plasma pistols.
Does anyone have any tips on how to beat legendary or strategies you followed when you completed it yourself?
A -Yoink- load of patience and being mentally stable so you don’t go insane and break everything in the house… Even if it would be funny as hell to watch.
Watch all of these, then you’ll beat it. Still takes time though, be patient, no need to break a perfectly good controller!
use the sentry turret when you can to distract your enemies, precision weapons on crawlers and automatic weapons on knights
I generally shoot the enemies.
Solo legendary can be a -Yoink-, so make sure to take it one step at a time if you aren’t used to it. And if you find yourself getting frustrated too much, its time for a break.
I’ve heard it easiest to beat using the noob combo.
Ranged weapons, opening chapter as you exit the cryo-tube, there’s a pistol on the floor, perfect for the early grunts, grab a PP and prep for the elites.
Speaking of which, if you want as smooth sailing as possible (I don’t know your skill, experience etc), improve your noob-combo skills. Plasma pistol-dmr (or BR or pistol, covenant/prom. equivalents).
When it comes to the prometheans, take out the watchers, then pack dogs, then knights. The suppressor to drop their shields with the light rifle for the head shot worked really well on the Knights for me.
Final mission, there is actually quite a lot of Incinerator ammo available, it makes the finale so much easier.
Watch videos, even the LASO ones for tips on skipping sections.
But rule number 1, keep your distance.

A precision weapon + a plasma pistol + range = 99.99% of success.
Take out the smaller enemies like grunts, crawlers, watchers, and jackals first. Then find a plasma pistol on the ground and use that to take out the shields of elites then one shot with the DMR/BR/Pistol/LR/Carbine.
This will work with Knights aswell it just will take an extra shot or two. I saved power weapons and nades for knights or used the turret like a previous poser suggest. Then when knights focus on turret it should be somewhat easy to assassinate them.
Hunters… You have to just nade the crap out of them and hope you can get a shot at their back.

Darn it Rusty I was going to post the exact same thing! It was the only way I survived Legendary Solo and not go insane.
Best loadout for Campaign? LR and Scattershot combo, BR and Shotgun when you can get it.

same method I had as well. Thanks for the other suggestions too, sounds like they’ll work well.

thanks for the video
Everyone else has great thoughts as well. My method for completing midnight was lightrifle and scattershot too
You can play the campaign on Co-op its also fun. Alone will probably be boring and hard. Personally i choosed to play the campaign solo on Heroic and then co-op with 3 friends on Ledgendary.
Try it Co-Op first and get a feel… might go for Herioc first or straight to legendary… As others say take out the grunts… then move up the ranks. Less amount of ammo used better.
IMPORTANT TIP.
If you want Mark VI you must complete Legendary (Solo or Co-Op) online! This is due to unlocking armors being done through commendation which you need to be online for.
It’s the easiest Halo campaign, if you think it’s tough try CE on Leg.
By being good at the game.
But seriously, the first time I played on legendary all those years ago, it taught me one of the most important things a Halo player can know: use cover.
Also, I would advise against using the noob combo. It completely sucks all the fun out of the experience.
Legendary isn’t that hard tho…
You have to be pro. Then you have to play like a 1337 ninja. Then you have to pwn everything that moves.
But for real, I’d be up for a co-op mission sometime, you could watch how I play and maybe that would help you. I’m not one of the best players out there, but I’m good enough and I’ve played all the Halos (aside from Wars, which is an rts so it doesn’t count) on solo Legendary.
Just remember that the sentry turret should accompany you throughout the mission.
It will never threaten to stab you as it, in fact, cannot speak.
However, in the event that it does speak, you should disregard its advice.
