So after watching the little Halo 5 tease I have mixed feelings.
I’m excited that they are referring to it as “arena” multiplayer but I saw a lot of moves that would be new to Halo.
Clearly sprint will remain in the game, and it appears there are jump packs, ground pounds, and sliding.
how do we feel about this?
Personally I think we need to see it in action.
The thing I’m most concerned about is that it looks like they’ve embraced the war games thing and have spartans jumping in to arenas etc etc.
Personally, I’m not a fan of the idea. I prefer the classic way of maps that take place in locations that you fight in. I just feel like making every map have this arena gladiator type feeling will kinda take something from the experience.
It’s about time someone tries to freshen up the core game play. I’ll have to judge the mechanics on a case by case basis, but I’m excited we might be getting new mechanics anyways. Obviously may or may not be getting what was in the video, no obvious answer.
If it sucks, well, there’s multiplayer for Halo’s 1-4 anyways so no real harm done.

This. That is exactly how I feel about it at this point. I can’t really say a lot. I am excited about the game, but I am also, a little scared that it will not make me as happy as the other Halos have. Halo 4, didn’t make me happy. Halo 3 did. So, I hope this game can really make the push.
I’m a little skeptical but I’m keeping a positive attitude. If Spartan abilities are nothing more than armour abilities disguised with a new name I’ll be disappointed but I doubt that’s the case.
Evade was the one AA that worked. Hopefully Spartan Abilities will be more along those lines - movement AAs that spice up combat. Rolling, sliding, maybe a superjump, that sort of thing. No invincibility BS.
If these Spartan Abilities replace Armor Abilities and are able to be used by everyone without having to pick and choose, then 343 are already listening.
First of all, I don’t like that 343i still go with the “canon-ising” the multiplayer thing. It is unnecessary. Just let MP be MP. That’s my opinion though.
Now, Spartan Abilities could just as well be a new name for Armor Abilities. I can’t judge them now, but after Halo 4, I am kinda skeptical about anything that could differ from older Halo arena-style gameplay.
I can only hope that our voices will be heard when the beta launches and that it won’t be too late for some major changes if necessary.

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure. I haven’t had the chance to see how they operate, and how they fit into Halo 5’s multiplayer. Were they to appear in Halo 3’s multiplayer… sure, I’d probably be unfavorable of them. Again though, I haven’t seen them play out yet, so I’ll reserve judgement.
As of right now, I have no idea if it’s just some one time boost picked up on the map or what. I wasn’t in favor of armor abilities, and a big reason for that was it gave a “randomized” start at the beginning, and they were continuous use barring cooldowns. If it ends up being like that, I may not enjoy the new “spartan abilities”. Who knows though, it may impress me in the future. I’m excited to see how it all unfolds.
That intro might not even be more than some cutscene meant to make multiplayer more hyped up before the match actually starts.
Honestly, Frank even said that the beta for Halo 5 will have a large effect on what the final multiplayer will be like. There is a whole 10 months to work after the multiplayer beta starts.
That is a lot of time and considering the only changes that will be made after will likely be purely gameplay and minor aesthetics, I think it is safe to say no matter how bad the beta could be it will produce a better final product in the end next year.
