How do Spartans Get their Armor?

I was playing reach’s campaign recently to get a challenge done and I wondered “how did Kat get her (EDIT: Air Assault) helmet if she never attacks from an aerial vehicle or jetpack?” I also wondered “how did she get cyan armor?”.

I think I answered my first question by telling myself spartans get armor according to what kind of Op their good at or what suites their specializations or something like that (and correct me if I’m wrong). but the REAL question is ‘How do spartans get their color?’
It’s definitely not camouflaged, except for a few spartans that wear camo green and brown, but what about all the blues, reds, and blacks? do spartans just get colors that were randomly sprayed on there or do they get to choose?

She doesn’t have a pilot helmet…

sorry I meant air assault

I’ve always believed that the reason that Kat and Carter had blue armor was because they were both from the original Noble Team, which could have all originally had some sort of Blue armor.

As long as you don’t use Emile as an example, the armour pieces make near perfect sense.
Why Jorge is wearing EVA pads and Emile is wearing an EVA helm is beyond me.
Everything else is about a role they generally fill. The reason Kat can’t drive a ground vehicle is because she’s used to piloting or nothing else really. Its her hacking skills and therefore the need to drop her in from the air that gives to her armour set up.

I like to think that while it is based on what your proficiency is, they got their armor through combat and weighing out which piece of armor will provide benefits.

Like Emile could’ve had his EVA helmet not because he was proficient in Space, but because of his preference to CQC and his large visor in the EVA helmet could provide a large field of view, increasing his reaction time because he can see more without having to move his head.

Jorge could’ve got his bulky armor because he anted the extra protection.

And the other Spartans just do whatever is necessary for their survival so they choose armor doesn’t belong in a single piece.

I think armor color is based simply on preference.

What’s the point of having CQB and CQB labelled helmets if the space one is better for the role?
I understand the point, but the point lacks practical sense of the situation. The point of having a CQB/C built helmet would be to maximize visual input while maximizing defensive capabilities. Having Noble Team field test equipment for improper use works as a plot device, not a practical one.
The EVA is the platform to scratch a scary face onto.

> Jorge could’ve got his bulky armor because he anted the extra protection.

True but why is the EVA shoulder variant a bulky thick plate of armour? If one is out for a space walk, one doesn’t need anything that will get caught on whatever there is to be caught on. The EVA’s shoulder’s profile doesn’t fit the role in a practical sense because it can get caught up in the environment being navigated in exo-space. That’s not a good thing.

eBay.

But in all seriousness spartans choose their own armour, that’s why Jorge states that he made some additions to his armour after professor Halsey asks what he’s done to it. Also in the halo 4 limited addition pack you get an armour customisation schematic, this also shoes that spartans were given the choice to do what they like with their armour.

Also Spartans have previously been divided into teams such as Blue and Green team, I guess they get armour colours depending on their team. I believe Master chief was originally in green team which explains his armour colour.

uh, no. all spartan 2’s base armor color was green, or that armor set was anyways, like Red team’s armor was all grren give or take a few details

linda had green armor, 99% of them had green armor

ahh yeah of course, they all had the green coating designed to disperse fire from the covenant as they hadn’t yet captured the covenant’s shielding technology.

even so, that doesnt explain why some are colored grey with a blue trim and orange tertiary stripes. I’m mostly wondering why they have the colors that they have. also, if someone was good at say CQC, why not just wear all CQC perms so it could enhance your CQC capabilities along with your skill? (example) why wear like 1 CQC shoulder and a pilot helmet when your not specialized? (or ever flown)

The armor’s probably in a secure armory and the Spartans take what they need to fit their mission.

For starters, it is a game. And in the case of Emile, it could have been a trade off, more vision but more vulnerable (cracked screen, etc). The CQC & CQB helmets try to maximize vision wile providing maximum protection. But Emile is more of a head on guy with no care for his own safety so to speak.

Of course it could have been a platform for his design but either point stands.

And once again in Jorge’s case its more of a “it looks cool so we designed Jorge like that” kind thing. Same thing for the Armor, like some of them wouldn’t make sense in the battle field. HONESTLY the only armor that makes sense is the Halo 4 Mjonir armor, because the Halo 3 version’s shoulders made it impossible to move arms in every direction, you would only have a limited space to move it in real life.

Seeing they’re part of this Noble Team, a SpecWarCom unit, I get the feeling they might get a say in what they want their armour to be like.

They get them from magic armour fairies.

Master Chief and his whole team started out in bootcamp together, how tf was he part of a different team?
