How do people defend the CE magnum?

The CE magnum is pretty overpowered, as everyone knows. And completely dominates the sandbox of CE. Honestly, if 343 decided to make it a 4-shot kill in MCC, that would help a ton. (but this isn’t about MCC)

I personally feel that the CE magnum is inexcusably OP. Whereas say H2’s button combos are more balanced, and something pros and casuals can defend

Something that we should have in mind is that the Halo Combat Evolved multiplayer wasn’t to support matchmaking and as such, there wasn’t a requirement that the multiplayer should be as balanced as if it was designed with the intent that it should be used in Matchmaking. Originally, the only was to play Halo CE’s multiplayer was designed for Custom Games and a such gamemode differs significantly compared to Matchmaking like not having as strict game balance requirements and more options to the player like being able to change settings and choose gametype.

It really depends on the map and the game type. The pistol on Blood Gulch or Sidewinder ctf is a wonderful weapon that has great attack and defensive capabilities. And since everyone starts with one, it becomes the equalizer between those that can master the weapon.

The problem comes when it’s a pickup rather than a starting weapon. Something like Longest or Wizard becomes almost unwinnable if one team is allowed to control the pistol spawns, but even that would change if everyone started with it. That being said, I do think some of the smaller maps might be more enjoyable if the weapon set was only close combat weapons.

Asking for CE to be anything like Halo 2 (or the rest) is disgusting, and I cannot support that kind of silly talk in any way, shape or form.

The weapons in CE are balanced. The fact that one weapon is more powerful than some others does not make a weapon unbalanced. Keep in mind that CE was made at a time where the primary focus was fun. Games were also a lot simpler (in a very, very good way). The CE Magnum can be countered. Just throw one or two of the mini nukes you carry around.

If I’m not mistaken, every game is supposed to be designed is a such a way that it’s fun to play in order to make the players return. In this point, Halo CE doesn’t differ from any other Halo game.

On the other hand, the main difference between Halo CE and many of the other Halo game is that the game didn’t have matchmaking which meant that the multiplayer was less accessible and as such, its role in relation to the other gamemodes wasn’t as important as with the other Halo games.

As a conservationist If they changed halo CE one bit id be absolutely furious.
