Is it a random unlock like everything else, or do you have to get to a certain level or unlock a specific commendation to get it? I’ve only seen a handful of players using DMRs in Warzone.
I’ve gone through dozens of Silver and Gold Req packs, and I’ve gotten plenty of Battle Rifle variants, but not even the basic DMR. Help?
I think its a random drop from a pack 
I still find it hilarious that it took me past spartan level 20 to get my first sniper in a pack…

I got lucky and got the DMR from a gold com, but man it’s 6 points, fairly late in the game lol.
DMR is like a sub-auto mini sniper. Its an excellent weapon, especially for perfect kills maybe that’s why. The damage is pretty high too. If anyone finds one, let me know how you got it. 
It’s just random. You have to cross fingers and beg the powers that be for one. I too am waiting for actual weapons, but instead I just keep getting armor and helmets…

Buy silver req packs.
The new REQ system sucks! Setting up load outs on Halo 4 was much better. Nobody likes having to start with an Assault Rifle in every game.

I am level 44 in Halo 5, and I JUST got my DMR. I got it in a gold pack.
Got mine (Basic DMR) at 33 in a Silver Pack. I don’t think there’s any prerequisites for it.

They do, I have one with the bayonet. And I think it requires you to get to Level 9 Reqs in a Warzone game.
Level 6: Basic DMR variants (Stock, Recon, Sentinel)
Level 7: Silenced and Kinetic Bolts
Level 8: Laser, Long Barrel, and Stabilization Jets
Level 9: Bayonet
In regards to the OP, focus on purchasing Silver Packs, it’s how you will acquire the regular DMR and it’s variants because they are Rare Cards. Gold packs will get you the Recon (Ultra Rare) and Sentinel (Legendary) variants. But seriously, focus on the Silvers because once you take care of all Uncommon and Rare Cards, when you open Gold Packs, you are more likely to acquire Ultra Rare and Legendary Cards.
You just keep opening packs and keep your fingers crossed.
Keep buying Gold. Buy Silver and you fill up on Common and Rare, buy Gold and you fill up on Rare and Ultra Rare with Legendary tossed in.
I’m missing suppressed and bayonet default DMR’s but have a Recon DMR!

a bayonet dmr is pointless your better off with a secondary weapon made for close range with a bayonet

I never actually have even used a weapon with a Bayonet… At that point in the game I’m not even considering using one haha.
Get the base permanent unlocks from silver packs. Don’t waste money on Gold until you’re trying to pull rares.
u need to open a lot of req packs
I’ve been opening up gold and silver packs like crazy and I haven’t gotten a dmr, even the warzone premium packs don’t have it 
I’ve bee getting total garbage from them.
I’m SR Level 45 and still have not gotten a DMR hopefully I get it soon
