You know those people on the other edge of a map who can chuck a grenade and have it land square at your feet? Yeah, I wanna do that. I know they’ve obviously practiced and have gotten good at it over time, but I was wondering if there’s any known training methods to get me better at accurate nade throwing. Particularly, any Forge maps that are made for practicing projectile throwing.
There are some out there that have nades all over. Your best bet is to just load up the map you want in forge and throw down a whole bunch of nades and then practice, thats what i did.
I pay attention to the skyline when I throw, I simply know which cloud to aim at to make it land at a particular place, and also how long it will take to get there, so I can judge where the player will be (assuming they continue their current path) when the grenade lands, times out and explodes.
I’ve also recently learned EXACTLY where to throw a grenade during a DMR fight so the enemy end up shooting it when it’s right in their face, making it explode and take them down to one shot.
One random tip is to remember where the grenades spawn and move over to them whenever you’re not engaging an enemy and/or don’t have anywhere to go.
If you already have 2 of that kind on you, you just gained +2 free random nades to throw around and hope to get lucky with.
If you actually want to get better with them, playing Halo 3 would probably be a good idea … People complain that they were weak in H3, but in reality, you could dominate a match with them just fine. The only difference is you actually needed some kind of skill due to the small blast radius.

> The only way is to become as awful at the game as possible. In my experience, the worse the player, the better they are at throwing nades.
Man that was the funnest comment I’ve seen all week.
Back when I was a try hard in Halo 3, I made it a point of learning how to place nades where I wanted as well.
Go into Forge, set up Fusion coils at EVERY location where people like to perch, particularly with Sniper. Set the coils to respawn every 5 seconds.
Go in with a buddy or a guest controller. Grab nades and try to find something to line up the sight-picture with. Either some ledge, a cloud, anything that you can consistently use.
Your buddy/guest is there for long range grenades. They should have a view over where you’re trying to aim, so they can let you know if you need to throw farther, shorter, left, right.
With practice does come impressive results. The amount of save the game nades I used to pull off was ridiculous, (Really you should’ve seen them) but in Halo Reach it really doesn’t seem worth the effort so I don’t practice it anymore, plan on it in Halo 4 though. The grenade range doesn’t feel as long in Reach, hopefully in 4 it’ll be longer.
I practiced in Halo3. What I did to get good with nades was start an endless custom game with an afk player as your opponent. I set grenades to auto-generate and then started trying to hit the second player from the highest point on the map, being able to use the second screen to see how close my nades were coming I was able to eventually get good with nades.
I played Halo 3 matchmaking for months straight instead of reach, and that’s how i got better, Halo 3 is alot harder to get nade kills so when i returned to reach it was alot easier. Now at least half my kills in every game are with nades.
