I’m hosting custom games right now, and they’re leggy every now and then really bad. Does anybody know any tips or ways to get rid of it?
get better internet?
Find out what your internet service provider is, and call them. Chances are, something has happened to either your end or their end. Its their job to provide you with a stable internet, but it is your job to make sure they know you are not getting a good connection.
Close all applications that uses bandwitch (msn, skype, facebook, etc), set modem to dmz.
Go to this website and run various tests on your Home Internet connection. Make sure you don’t have packet loss. You can also run speedtests/pingtests If you want.
If there’s indeed Packet loss, contact your ISP for more details. Could be a problem on their end.
Another factor would be your UPLOAD SPEED. You can’t host one match when your Upload speed is too slow. Run a Speed Test and give us your speed results.
You also need to make sure your not playing with people that are completely faraway from you. If you live in the US, make sure you only play with US people. Playing with people overseas will add up more ping times between you and the player. So Its best to play with people in the same region/state/country.

Setting It to DMZ serves no purpose these days. If you know how to properly Port Forward, then you don’t have to use DMZ. UPnP is good enough to have an Open NAT type.
