How do i select servers?

Sorry for the caps lock in my title but it won’t let me use lower-case at all for some reason on this forum.

I’ve played Halo 1 and 2 on the Xbox, and alot of Halo 1 on the PC. To go into multiplayer I would just click multiplayer and a server list would populate. I could filter by maps, number of players, etc. but this Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary is a real pain to navigate through.

When I am in Multiplayer Main Menu, I select Matchmaking which I think is correct. The description says take your party to Xbox LIVE (I assume that means myself, I don’t know what it means by party). Then there’s tons of options which from what I gather are just for customizing the types of players I wind up against online. Then after the matchmaking I can vote for 3 maps.

What, in the end, I am looking for is the ability to choose what map I want to play, type of game (CTF, Slayer, etc.) and weapons (Swords only, etc). How can I do this?

Matchmaking doesn’t give you that much freedom of choice. If you really want something really specific, get a group of friends together and play customs

Not “random” players per se; there’s no custom games list system, so you have to invite them into a party.

No, you can invite anyone you run into. But it can be a big hassle to get good games going without inviting friends.
