How do I increase my rank around here?

I wanted to add a signature, but it said,

> To create a forum signature, you must achieve the rank of Spartan - Iron.

How far away am I from that rank?

And how do I get to that rank?

Sort of like the missing ranking system in Halo 4… I am utterly blind on this topic…

Halo Waypoint Forum Rankings

You currently have 598 posts. Spartan - Onyx Iron requires 6,001!

Your Welcome, Crazy.

OP
You would be a Marine - Iron as of now.

The Master of Unicorns title is a glitch in the system.
“This rank is an error on the backend when Waypoint introduced the ranking system, it will be fixed in the future.”

Also, even if you get 6001 posts, your still stuck with Master of Unicorns, a glitch rank.

> Also, even if you get 6001 posts, your still stuck with Master of Unicorns, a glitch rank.

I believe if you PM bs angel or rukizzel, you can have it changed once you’ve hit Spartan!

yep, that’s correct.

Thank you.

So to add a signature to my posts, all I need to do is get busy and post something on every thread I can find here? I mean, I just need around 5400 more. One post per minute, 60 posts per hour, if I try really hard, I could probably get it done over the weekend.

What a freaking joke.

The signature is a reward to those who feel an investment in the Waypoint forums is more than a “joke.”

Look at the bright side. I can bet you Forum Team just fixed your rank.

I can truly appreciate that fact. My point was that this approach gives someone an incentive to post meaninglessly to just acquire the ability to have a signature. I am CERTAIN that this is not what 343i wanted, but has created none the less.

Of course posting here is more valuable than a joke. But when you post to acquire an achievement, it becomes a joke. The incentives are all wrong.

And yet, if that were truly “what 343 has created” then the forums would be full of people boosting for a forum rank. Looking at the members list, that’s not really happening at all. There are 15 Spartans and, with the exception of two, all have been members for 2+ years.

I said that the incentive is incorrect for the achievement. You are arguing that people have a strong desire to post a signature, which is an orthogonal discussion.

Take a look at it from this point of view. You don’t use this incentive for becoming a moderator.

If you are looking for the major reason they made Signatures, let me explain. Sigs used to be available to everyone, but too many people made them like:

Signature

Example

So they made a limit. And a rather high one so that those who show dedication are rewarded. If they are dedicated enough to post that much and not banned yet, then they will not abuse the system and deserve it.

Perhaps I’m misreading your argument, but it was never stated that a signature is an incentive to post more. Merely, it is a reward.

Limiting Sigs also cuts back on the chance of inappropriate Sigs and links in them. A lot easier on the forum team to only have to worry about a few sigs instead of hundreds/thousands.
