How do I download my Anniversary Maps to Reach?

Alright, So I pre-ordered Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary and I should be getting it on Tuesday (Nov.15,2011).
But I have one problem, the code for the 7 new maps download will come with the game but where do I type this code? My brother told me you type the code in the Redeem Code category on the Xbox Dashboard, is he right? If so, how do I do it so that I get the maps both on Halo Anniversary and on Halo Reach? If you know how, or have an idea of how to do it, please respond to this thread explaining how you would do it. I need help A.S.A.P so please respond!!

It would be much appreciated!

P.S Can’t wait to play Halo CEA!!

you don’t have to when you get halo cea it comes with the maps on the disk. so you can just play it like you would reach just put the disk in your xbox and you can play the maps no download needed unless you got the grunt funeral skull which you would redeem.

Your brother is correct. To play reach maps on cea you must install reach to your hard drive, If you own a copy of reach from games on demand you are good. If you own the disk, put it in, go to dashboard, then hit y on the game tab, then hit install.

To download the Anniversary Map Pack to your harddrive, you will enter the code into the “Redeem Code” field (either on the console or on xbox.com). You really don’t need to stress about it though, as there are instructions on the Map Pack insert itself.

Installing Reach to the hard drive isn’t required to play the maps. The Anniversary maps are playable from CEA from the get-go, or playable through Reach by redeeming the prepaid download code included with CEA.

If you were refering to Reach’s original maps, or the Noble or Defiant packs, those cannot be played through CEA at all, regardless of whether or not Reach is installed to the console’s hard drive. The Anniversary pack is the only Reach content that is accessible through CEA.

Yes you can.

Yellow bit is correct.
The Red is semi informative. You can install the maps to play through the Halo: Reach disk, but not the other way around. Anniversary maps can be accessed through both versions of the game. Any other maps can’t be accessed through Anniversary.

I own the game already and am only just now realizing that I’m in the minority with regards to that.

So…the multiplayer matchmaking isn’t up yet. So things might change. But right now you can’t really play online…I suppose you could in a private match but I don’t know for sure.

Here’s how it works, to settle the matter.

When you open the Anniversary box there are two cards with codes on them. One has two codes, the other has three codes. The one with three codes gives you a code for the Grunt Funeral Skull (Grunts explode like plasma grenades), Male Avatar Master Chief Armor, and Female Avatar Master Chief Armor. The one with two codes gives you two days of Gold Live (I think this only works on new accounts?) and gives you the crown jewel of the pack…six classic maps reworked for Reach. That code is how you access the maps from the Reach disc. When you put Reach in and go to the list of maps you will see them all there just like any other map…sadly the playlists aren’t up yet so all you can do is run around in them by yourself.

When accessing multiplayer from Anniversary, you only get six maps. The regular Reach maps DO NOT show up in your list of options. I have Reach AND Anniversary installed and can tell you this for certain.

What about the Defiant and Noble map packs. I’d imagine they’d be accessible from the CEA disc, yeah?

No. Unless things change on the offical release date when playlists appear, you can only access six maps from the CEA disc. I own both Reach map packs and don’t see them even if I try to set up a custom private match in CEA.

That’s weird. How about custom gametypes from Reach? Those show up in CEA, right?

Are you using the same storage device in cea as the games are installed to?

> Are you using the same storage device in cea as the games are installed to?

Yup. My hard drive is the only storage device I’ve got.

Doesn’t seem weird to me. The focus in CEA is clearly on those reworked maps and not on the regular Reach maps…if you want to play Reach maps you can just play Reach and use the Anniversary code to add the CEA maps. Not sure about custom gametypes…I didn’t check that.
