I recently bought the Ultimate Edition on eBay because I couldn’t find a good deal anywhere. I really wanted to make sure I got the ultimate edition because I loved Halo Wars 1 and the DLC for this game looked really good, but Idk how much I’d really play and am short on money so I haven’t bought it on release–the first Halo game I skipped the release for. So when I finally found it for cheap I was happy (about $30). Today it arrived when I got home so I just installed it. On the disc packaging it says ultimate edition (didn’t come with a case). I installed the game, but there’s no content unlocked at all, no Halo Wars 1 Definitive Edition, and no Season Pass… How do I unlock it from this disc? I really feel lost. The guy has good feedback on eBay (99.6% positive I believe) so I didn’t think I’d get scammed. Is there something I have to do or did I get screwed over…? 
You should be able to go to Manage Games, select Halo Wars 2 and then ‘see in store’. From there you should be able to see the different add ons that are available for the ultimate edition. A side note is, you cannot install the season pass, you just download the content of it.

So it doesn’t say I have the ultimate edition, but under my saved data I have an add-on called “Kinsan”. So what you’re saying though is that this content wouldn’t be installed from the disc, but it should still be unlocked for me to download through this ultimate edition disc? Or does it come with a code(s) that activate it for me? I never received any codes if so.

If you are using the disc, you will have to have the disc in the tray. All the DLC is in the cloud and needs to be downloaded and installed. You should be able to download all the add ons by going to ‘Manage Game’ option when hovering over Halo Wars 2. After doing this, go to the second option down which is ‘Ready to Install’ and you should see the different leaders. There is not a button to install all DLC, you will have to do it manually.

When I go to manage game>ready to install there is no content there, it just says “When you own content for this game or app that’s not installed already, this is where you’ll find it”. Under installed is just Halo Wars 2 and “Kinsano,” which according to the store comes with the Ultimate Edition/Season Pass.

- Scroll down to add-ons and select Show All

Every single one of the heroes, barring Sergeant Forge, have a price tag ($5.99) and the same goes for the season pass itself at $29.99 and Ultimate Edition for $39.99. Sergeant Forge however, just says “free” instead of install if that makes any sense, I don’t know if he’s free for everyone or if he a part of the season pass. And Kinsano says “owned” and “installed” for that page.

Forge is free for everyone, its odd that you have Kinsano. It sounds like your disc is not really an ultimate edition. What does the top of the disc look like?

Apologies, my eyes must have glazed over it. When I opened it I didn’t see anything of the sort and have just checked the box and packaging used to protect the disc, and have found no cards or codes whatsoever. I even looked in the trash and recycling to be sure, but nothing.

So I got robbed… I doubt there’s anything you at 343i can do, but if so Id appreciate it beyond words. Is there any way to upgrade to the ultimate edition through my disc or do I need to buy all of this content separately?
There isn’t much I can do. However, in regards to your question about upgrading, you can buy the season pass from the store and it will provide you with the part you are missing, unfortunately, you are losing out on the value of Halo Wars Definitive Edition, which you would also have had a 5x5 for. All in all, this would cost you more than if you had bought the ultimate edition new.

Thank you for the assistance. I’m really bummed out, this came from an official store that had an eBay outlet, but they’re not interested in giving me the codes I purchased. As I said, if you could somehow help with this in a way, I would appreciate it, but I do not expect it. If I get a full refund but keep the disc, I should be able to buy the season pass, but now as you said Halo Wars Definitive Edition, which I was looking forward to since I loved the original.
Is there any way with this disc that I could unlock the Play Anywhere? Or is that only digital copies? I never had any experience with the play anywhere titles and this is the first I own.
