How do bullets travel in H5?

How do bullets travel in Halo 5?
Will I have to lead targets, or do the bullets just teleport instantly into my opposition’s cranium?

I forgot the technical terms for this… was it bullet scanning or something?

Hitscan, they connect instantly.

Well, I believe that all human weapons are hitscan (with the obvious exception of rockets and the like).

All Covenant weaponry is projectile, thus requiring you to lead the target.

Sounds perfect! I hate having to lead my shots like in some of the previous Halos. Perfect!

Away from the gun.

So cheeky! I love the Halo Community!

I’m guessing it’ll be similar to Halo 4. Here’s how they did it then for the primary weapons:

AR: Hitscan
DMR: Hitscan
BR: Hitscan
Carbine: Projectile
Storm Rifle: Projectile
Lightrifle: Projectile

By Warthog.

Seriously though primarily hitscan with a few projectiles smattering the sandbox (Boltshot, storm rifle)

Wait, what? What are sauces? This isn’t Taco Bell?

You’d think for $3 you’d get 3 sauces. Not just two. Good hotdogs, though.

My source is the innernette. Also, usually if you’re familiar enough with the mechanics, it’s obvious if the weapon you’re using is hitscan or projectile. For instance, Halo 3’s BR is the only projectile BR in the series, and the difference is obvious.

The Lightrifle is projectile based? Really? I wonder if it’s the same for Halo 5 because I don’t recall having to lead opponents at all in the beta.

Odd, considering that it should technically have the fastest “bullet” of any weapon in the game…traveling at the speed of light and what not.

I suppose this is mostly preference but I always thought hitscan was better for a game like Halo. In Battlefield it’s fine and deepens the gunplay since a lot of combat takes place at longer distances (just look at some sniper gameplay) but in Halo it serves as an annoyance when you’re just trying to shoot a guy in the face that’s maybe 20 feet away from you and your cursor is placed right on his head.

For the most part in Halo, if my cursor is on someone’s head and it’s red, I should get the headshot. Other games never give you a clear reticle where you see exactly where the bullet will go which makes bullet travel less frustrating as a result.

Get out of here… H3’s projectile system was terrible.

I don’t think the carbine was projectile in Halo 4. I played a game of warzone recently and it felt very Hitscan there. So I would say that the Halo 5 carbine is Hitscan.

So is the Light Rifle.

I’m pretty sure it’s all hitscan. I’d like, however for some long range engagements with human weapons to require you to lead your shots at least slightly. It would only make sense. Like sniping from one side of Apex 7 to the other should have some manipulation to the bullet’s path.

The majority of weapons are hitscan. There are still ballistic/missile/rocket-type weapons.
