How do 343i sort out your rank after 10 games???

can anyone help me…after the 10 games to get a rank in arena some how I got given gold 2??? The thing is in two of the games I was on a team that had two players leave and we still won and then again later I was on a team of 3 and we won that.in among that I had one disconnect and 90% of the 10 games I had a + k/d so for me I was a little disappointed when I got a gold rank.so can anyone explain to me how they come up with these ranks as when i played 10 games in FFA I got a platinum 2 rank and I never won a game and had a few negative K/Ds cheers

Not well.

That’s how.

I’m in the process of actively trying to lower my rank from last season (plat 5). I’ve quit every placement match thus far (2 bans so far), will quit a few more, then try and lose all 10.

I’ll probably end up in Diamond tho. shrugs

Don’t bother throwing you matches. Your previous seasons carry too much weight. Even if you do abysmally, you won’t drop very far.

I tried. All I did was lower my stats, barely got myself lowered from my last season division.

It’s ranked… of course quits will count.

The system takes your previous rank in last season at pits you against players around that rank. So say you were platinum rank last season, you will face gold, platinum and diamond players. Depending who you win against and how well you do in each of those matches will decide were you will place.

once you rank, you can only go up and down based on wins NOT by your personal performance.

Swat has gotten stricter ranking prerequisites due to the amount of players able to make onyx.

I wish they would make the season longer. We will be seeing people completing their placement matches for a while longer which seems to make every game a cluster. One guy will go 19-3 and another will go 2-17. It’s a mess. It was ok when the game first came out and people played a lot and got their placement matches done. Seems like it settled out quicker. Now we get wild variations in player skill because of the placements matches going on.

depends in what mode, for example 2-17 does not mean your playing poorly if you are in an objective game mode such as CTF or strongholds.

I do wish they were around a month 1/2 or 2 months long

Yeah, pretty sure whatever you were ranked in before the reset will hold high weight on what you get placed in next time. Onyx players will most likely still be placed in Onyx everytime even if they do worse the second time. I think Naded tested that out with new accounts (since his main can’t find matches in Champion); he gets Onyx every single time.

There are some benefits to this, but they really need to fix the matching at higher levels. Match time is most important aspect. Another note, is they need a mathematician to design the variables that go into Matchmaking rank/matching; there are so many issues with how Bungie did it and now with how 343i are doing it.

The 1st season I suspected it was heavily based on wins. The 2nd season threw that out the window. Here are some strange medals between me and some of my brand new to multiplayer friends:
Jan Season Medals for Slayer I believe:
Player A 5wins. .94 K/D = Bronze 6
Player B 5wins . 85 K/D = Silver 2
Player C 5 wins 1.6 K/D = Silver 4
Player D 6 wins .32 K/D = Gold 5

The strange part was all 4 of us had 9 common games out of the 10. My newest to Halo friend admittedly played like a dumpster fire somehow pulled a Gold 5. Its almost like the game places you in the top 3 medal bracket and bottom 3 medal bracket and then rolls an 18 sided dice for your true rank.

If I was in charge of qualifying medals only:
SWAT = About 50/50 weight on Wins and K/D. After all if you aren’t positive you are hurting your team (Unless you get 11 Distraction medals in one match).
Team Slayer = 60% Wins 40% KDA… Yes assists are very important in this gametype.
Arena = Maybe 60% Wins 30% Objective based medals (Strongholds, etc) 10% KDA.

The ranking system is messed. It does work pretty good in FFA I find, but anything else… nope!

I just wish we all started from the bottom and worked our way up…none of this placement, resetting rank garbage!

Sorry just not a fan of it at all. When my rank gets reset, it makes me not want to play (as much) honesty.

That made me (bold part) LOL for real! too funny!

Ya the ranking system is pretty messed. See my above post.

So really the ranking system doesn’t mean squat my problem is I’m a lone wolf and play with randoms in slayer and I think there lies my problem as I will never get above gold unless I get a team but I’m not a hardcore halo player that’s why I stick mainly to FFA as at a lower level people don’t care if they quit out and that’s frustrating as I get penalised for staying in and that’s what got me a naf rank in the first place
