So I think it would be much better for Halo 5 if Locke and Chief had different speed. Power. Etc. Giving it a more unique little edge and some cool skull possibilities (I.e a skull that switches stats)
So do make it more simple let’s assume we use custom game type options for stats. For
Base speed; how fast. Without sprint
Sprint Speed: How fast they sprint and for how long
Armor Power: Armor HP
Main HP: How much non armor HP they have
Melee power: How strong they hit stuff
So what would you say.
For PvP reasons I say exactly the same.

There’s no PvP in campaign…
I think it should be like Halo 2’s campaign, were Chief and Arbiter played slightly differently. Why introduce a different character just for them to be static clones of each other in gameplay?
I think Locke should have a unique armour ability, and Chief should have his own. I’d imagine Locke being able to use VISR/Promethean vision like in the Gamestop trailer. It suits his role as a hunter. Conversely, chief should have a defensive ability, like Hardlight shield or something else. That suits his role as humanity’s defender and it serves the purpose of self-preservation and vulnerability, much like how Chief is Locke’s prey and is going to need it.
Maybe there could be others as well. Shrugs

I figured the VISR thing Locke did in Gamestop’s trailer was supposed to be like the scanner from ODST. It would be interesting if it ended up being Promethean vision, maybe MC can go old school and get the flashlight on his helmet back.

That’s what VISR is.
And meh, the flashlight as an ‘ability’ would be disappointing. I want them to have different conbat abilities.
I don’t want them to move differently with regards to base/sprint speed, and I definitely don’t want them to have different health/shields.
I would like different VISR designs and maybe for Chief to not have all of the spartan abilities. This would speak to Locke’s armor being superior to Chief’s, and would force Chief to show that really is the better soldier.
I say.
Chief
>Stronger
>Faster
>Better sprint and melee
>AR pistol starts mostly
>No abilities (but can be picked up)
Locke
>10-15% weaker
>About 5% slower
>Weaker melee
>Shorter BUT faster sprint
>BR+Pistol starts mostly
>abilities on start.
Chief is a spartan II with more training and combat than Locke has been enlisted (no offense) chief should be stronger but Locke’s abilities and tech woulf balance it out
I think Chief should play normally without any abilities (except sprint), and Locke and his team should get all of the new spartan abilities. It would be a nice contrast to show the old vs new spartan armor.
For the multiple campaign things I have a feeling it will be like Halo 3:ODST where the Rookie went scouring thru the city looking for evidence on where his team was. But locke will be looking for the Master Chief.
If they’re two separate Campaigns, they should have a noticeable difference. If it’s switching back and forth, barely any difference.
In my opinion:
- Locke should be faster without.
- Locke should sprint faster, but chief should sprint longer.
- Locke should have stronger shields, Chief should have stronger armor (without shields)
- Chief should be MUCH stronger, but Locke can hit faster.
I think this is pretty fair!
Honestly, in terms of base stats, I’d expect no difference. Locke would have all the Thrust-enhanced SA’s, while Chief would have the basic ones like sprint (maybe a little slower, as the thrusters aren’t boosting him along), clamber and such. I wouldn’t expect a strength difference, honestly. Their suits and augmentations put them pretty much on the same level in that respect.
I would, however, given the first-person views from All Hail and whatever the Chief trailer was called, that Locke will be capable of fully regenerating health, while Chief does it like Reach. This is because Chief’s HUD has a segmented health bar while Locke’s is continuous.
