I got into halo because it came with mine xbox 360 which was halo 3: odst and something just clicked.

I played through CE on Legendary with my father about a year after the game released. Good times!

I don’t even remember. Possibly because I had just gotten the original xbox and needed something to go along with it. It wasn’t until much later that I realized it was made by the same developer who made Marathon and Oni, two games I absolutely loved. That’s what truly got me hooked on Halo and why I’ve been hanging around the community ever since.

Advertising mainly. I saw advertisements for halo 3 and decided to get it the rest is history.

All thanks to my brother. I would not be a part of this beautiful community if it werent for him. It may sound silly but many of my greatest childhood memories take place in the Halo community. Specifically Halo 3 at its peak. Thank you bro, I love you.

After a few years after it came out (Halo CE came out in 2001, I was born in 2003), Me and my step-brothers played it. A lot. Great memories. Really fun. And here I am, still playing after 10-12 years later. Amazing how time flies. Felt like yesterday I was sitting on on bed, playing Halo 3 forge with them.

I was quite young. I had this uncle that was very into video games. We all were as a family but my uncle was always getting stuff on day one, a big enthusiast for that time.

In November 2001 my uncle came over to show my dad this new Xbox console.

I remember I had to turn off my N64 to make room on the TV for it, haha.

They played Halo for awhile and I watched. It seemed cool but eventually they gave me the controller (the massive Duke…) and went outside.

I played through the Pillar of Autumn, and it was neat! But oh man, once I stepped out of the life boat onto the Halo ring… it was like flicking on a light. I was hooked.

All started when I was still in elementary and was at my friend’s house along with a mutual friend and he brought over a copy of the Halo PC demo on a flash drive playing the wonderful multiplayer on blood gulch back when GameSpy was a thing. Got hooked onto multiplayer especially when my school’s computer lab started doing LAN sessions.

I didn’t get hooked on to the story until I managed to obtain the full game, and instantly got me. Got H2 Vista when I got my new computer at the time. Was disappointed that Halo 3 was only for Xbox but luckily, I got one for Christmas. I stayed on console ever since until MCC for PC got announced.

If it wasn’t for that mutual friend, I would’ve been on the other side of gaming lol.

It was actually my friend who got me into Halo. I had a PlayStation 2 in the early 2000’s and he was either going to get a PlayStation 2 so we could trade/borrow games or buy an Xbox. He went with the latter and Halo: Combat Evolved came with it. We played the campaign and 1 vs 1 multiplayer all the time whenever I stayed round, sometimes not coming off until 3am-4am.

Halo CE launched with the original Xbox and I got it as a package deal, so sweet!

My next door neighbour and best mate of over 22 years owned a Halo:CE green original xbox with the game too obviously. We were 11 at the time (now in our 30’s). Every time I went to his house we would play Halo together on blood gulch, both in warthogs set up in the middle of the map (the path with the Spnkr Rocket Launcher) and drive flat out towards each other launching each other into the sky. The objective was simply to eject the other player from their puma. We called this game “Joust”. We had so much fun with that…

Simpler times.

My friend introduced me to Halo CE on XBox when we had time in between lessons. We did co-op as the best team ever!

I was the odd one out, most of my friends had a ps/ps2 and I got myself the Xbox with Halo CE.
6 years later my son was introduced to Halo we had the best time ever playing co-op, we’ve played all of em co-op since then. To bad we have to wait this time round.

I must have been like six years old or something, I would always go with my mum to her friend’s house, her friend had an older son and he would always be playing on the Xbox when I was round there, this would have been like 2002 or 2003. I remember going up to his room each time I was there and we’d just play it the whole time. Since then I have been in love with the series.

Simple. Unggoy, Kig-Yar, and Huragok. The moment I laid eyes upon these species when first playing Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST the franchise had taken my heart. Such a shame they get no attention, recognition, or development from Bungie, 343, or the Halo community.

I’ve always been a Nintendo fan boy. Always have, always will be. My Dad came home one weekend after getting us a takeaway breakfast with a newspaper. Inside the newspaper was a DVD with a run down of all the new games announced at E3 for this new “Xbox” console. On that disc was a trailer for Halo CE. My Dad and I watched it together and thought it looked amazing, but there was no way Microsoft were going to take on Nintendo and Sony, and we soon forgot about it…

Fast forward a few months and a friend of mine lugged his OG Xbox to my house to show me the console and this new game with “aliens in it”. He said it would blow Perfect Dark out of the water. I didn’t believe him. The word “Halo” popped up on the screen and I immediately recognised it as the game from the DVD a few months earlier. We started up a co-op campaign together and completed the Campaign in one sitting, then went back and did it again the next day. I couldn’t put it down and my friend was dragging his Xbox over every night so we could play. The following weekend my friend had had enough of carrying that big black box with him every days, so we went into town and bought a second hand Xbox with Halo CE and Fusion Frenzy. The rest was history, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Good times and good memories. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

OP

Tragically. When I was a lot younger, I used to go around my neighbours house and he had an Xbox so we ended up playing split screen on Halo 2; badly. I then eventually asked him about campaign.

Then 360 came out and so I decided to get a cheap Xbox for Christmas instead and get the back catalogue. So I spent all Christmas holidays plying Halo CE, Halo 2, along with both KoToR games.

Been an Xbox player ever since.

Played with cousins.

My Dad found a copy of Halo: CE with an original Xbox at a garage sale.
