How did you get into Halo?

How did you get into Halo? Did your friends tell you about it? Did you see a trailer? I got into Halo when I played Halo 3 ODST firefight at a friends house.

I got into Halo a long long time ago since the start of Halo on the Original Xbox when my mom was a gamer she introduce this awesome game to me and I loved Halo ever since.

I’ve told this story before but might as well post it again

> I’ll tell you the long story: it was 2011. The only two video games I played were Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Monster Hunter Tri. I did not own any game console that wasn’t made by Nintendo. But then, my little brother got this video game called Halo Reach. He’s the kind of kid who plays every video game that gets a bit of hype, before moving on to the next one, whereas I’m much older and I tend to stick to franchises that I like.
>
> I only saw him when I visited mom’s house, but one day I was bored and saw him messing around in forge mode. I didn’t know it was called forge mode at the time, but I was intrigued by this game mode, in a first-person shooter, where you could build stuff and spawn tanks. He let me give it a try and we just messed around killing each other and spawning weapons and vehicles and kill balls. Every time I visited mom’s house, I played it a little bit with him.
>
> It gradually got to the point where I would visit and spend my time building things on my own, on his Xbox 360, while he did other things. I have always been the kind of person who loves to build and create things. When I was a kid, I was more into Lego than video games, so I guess my fascination with forge mode stems from that same urge to build things. I built huge enclosed towers and learned how spawn points worked and got more and more familiar with the game mechanics just from forging.
>
> The turning point came when our family entered a raffle being held by a local game store (which has since been closed down because Gamestop killed it) to win a free Xbox 360. We all entered, and my little brother got lucky enough to win. But since he already had a 360, he let me have it. At this point, I was either going to sell it on Craigslist or get Halo Reach and forge as much as I want, in my own apartment without having to visit mom’s house. On a whim, I chose the latter. When I needed to pick a gamertag, I asked my friend and he said “just put your name and fill the rest of the space with zeros”. I only somewhat regret taking his advice…
>
> Anyway, now with my own Xbox which I was lucky enough to get for free, I was ready to forge to my heart’s content. It wasn’t until later that I decided to try my hand at campaign and multiplayer. And the rest is history

In elementary school back in 2006, I saw gameplay of Halo and thought to myself “Wow, that looks amazing!”, but the whole ‘Shoot, kill, die, repeat’ pattern didn’t make sense to me. I was a huge Pokemon nut and into GBA and Nintendo DS before shooter games even remotely clicked for me.
In 2009, I got my first laptop. I liked trying out game demos to see which games would be fun to try out on this platform. At the time I saw Halo hit the news again with ODST and decided to see if I could find a Halo game for the PC that I could play. Lucky for me, Combat Evolved had an active population still, and I got hooked not only into the multiplayer, but the lore and into shooter/console games. This is why Halo holds a special place in my heart for being tied with Pokemon as my favorite video game franchise.
In 2010, I got an Xbox360 along with Halo: Reach, my first console game. Noble Team and the fall of Reach, Invasion, Infection, Armor Abilities, Forge, crazy custom games, a huge community, online forums, just… everything.
Those 2 years were my personal glory days of gaming where I also got my hands on Halo Wars and Halo 3. I had to get rid of my Xbox360 in 2013 because my family was extremely poor at the time and we had no money, I couldn’t get a job, High School was tough and unpleasant. No time, No money, No choice. It really sucked. I turned to PC gaming on my Laptop where Age of Empires III, Halo: Combat Evolved, Counter Strike, and Team Fortress 2 became my go-to games. I remember playing on my couch with a wireless mouse laid on my armrest. I always kept up to date in the Halo community and the games, being a little dissapointed with H4 and H5 based on my observations.
November of 2016, I got a PS3 because I honestly wanted to see what the other side had, I still have it, and I love it. Upgrading to an Xbox ONE is within my grasp next month since I now have 2 jobs working with disabled people, and I can’t wait for it.

I was walking through Fry’s Electronics and saw a demo of Halo running on a Mac. It was nothing like anything I ever saw before. (vehicles, gameplay, story, everything). I thought I would actually buy a Mac just to play it. When I learned Microsoft bought Halo/ Bungie to launch their xbox, I was sold and pre-ordered the xbox just to play Halo… Rest is history, and many, many hours, days, weeks years playing it.

i got into halo since the 1st generation Xbox came out with it.

When I was six, I was visiting my cousins and my uncle was playing Halo CE. He was playing The Silent Cartographer. He let me play for a little bit, but I was obviously very bad, because I was six, I don’t actually remember much of that, just that I played it. Three years later, when I’m visiting again, he’s playing Halo 2, and here’s where my first vivid Halo experience comes from. I was playing as the Arbiter, on the Quarantine Zone level. I was using the Plasma Pistol, and managed to stick a plasma grenade on an enemy Ghost, getting a multikill. For my nine-year-old self, that was a hell of an achievement.

My friend invited me over to their house and we started to play Halo 3. I instantly fell in love with Elites. Elites are why I play halo.

PLEASE BRING BACK ELITES!!!

For once, there was a game you could be something other than a human in an FPS. And their rawr!!! THEIR HONOR!!! THEIR STORY!!! THE F!@#ING ARBITER!!! OMG FANGIRL MOMENT

once upon a time a little 7 year old kid went to his (not yet) step brothers house who was ten. he had a step brother who was 5 and my brother was 5 also. we played infection for halo 3 the entire time we were there. then on to halo reach infection and so on

I remember when my dad was playing halo 1 and I got interested in the halo series from their. I’ve played all the halo games because I liked halo so much

I was over at a friend’s house when I was in middle school. After playing a bunch of battlefield 2 on his ps2 all my friends went over to the computers where the H:CE demo was loaded up on several monitors. We all took turns seeing how quickly we could beat the campaign (silent cartographer was the only level in the demo) and then we switched over to multiplayer where I got absolutely destroyed by everyone cause I sucked at shooters at the time.

Afterwards I obsessively started watching H3 content on youtube - which also led me to RvB - to the point it actually got me in trouble with my mother cause she hated those types of games. I never actually got to play H3… instead I got Halo Reach with my first Xbox for Christmas of 2010. Thankfully I did find a used copy of both Halo 3 and ODST at a gamestop so I was able to enjoy Halo 3’s multiplayer eventually, but never when it was in its prime.

My friend and I were taking turns playing Turok (GameCube) and he had an original Xbox and on top was Halo CE and I asked if we could play it, after he told me what it was about and we played the mission Assault on the Control Room he told me about Halo 2 and 3 and so since I had a birthday coming up I begged my parents into letting me get the game because it was rated M and what not. They eventually said yes and I got it for my 12th birthday, Now I’m 19 years old and I still play Halo everyday.

I only got into it a few years ago. Picked up a copy of CEA for the 360 cheap on a whim. Very glad I did.

I had some friends who got me into it when I was at their house.

Older brother played H2 and got me started.

Wow you really love the Elites I been a huge Fan of Elites back in Halo 2 when it was released that game made me love them more especially with the arbiter in the storyline.

P.S when Halo TMCC also came out it was really awesome to see all of the Covenant in much more better forum I don’t think they will ever bring back Playable Elites in Multiplayer Sadly. :frowning:

Don’t lose hope myfriend! The word going around is 343i will be adding them in Halo 6. A lot of people have been b123ing about there not being playable elites. Even popular youtubers have been stressing on it.
