After being a Bungie.net member for nearly 8 years, I admit to having MAJOR difficulty trying to come here to talk about Halo 4.
What exactly brings you to Waypoint? What about this community really shines to you?
Did you have any issues transferring here with halo? If so, how did you overcome it?

Personally, I was never apart of the bungie forums nor was I apart of any forum until this one. Originally I came here since it was a great source for Halo 4 information but the more I conversed with the other members the more comfortable I felt here.
Waypoint has a really kind and unique community that if you try to immerse yourself in, you will be accepted and welcomed in with open arms… metaphorically speaking of course. Another plus to me personally is the site is very user friendly. Its not hard to navigate in any way at all.
This is the first forum that I’ve really found myself dedicated to. I was also never a part of the Bungie forums, as I was late to the party when it came to the Halo franchise. To put that in perspective, Reach was the first Halo game I had ever owned!
I mainly started posting here because snickerdoodle (who was my first friend I really made on Xbox Live) kept mentioning this place, so curiosity took hold and I started posting! I wasn’t extremely active until the Gamma forums, however, so it wasn’t an instantaneous hook. But, the more I talked with the other members, the more friends I made and they kept me coming back for more!
Waypoint has a very outgoing and sociable community. That’s not to say there aren’t those who aren’t quite as pleasant, but you’ll find that the majority of the community is extremely friendly and very welcoming! I’ve made many friends within this community, even from starting as an outsider. Things have not changed since then, and if you’re just as friendly to other people, you’ll find yourself submersed in a great community!
I’ve been here for over a year, back when the forums were still in beta. Back then, their organization was less than ideal and things were even more chaotic than they are now. I lurked a bit, posted sporadically but mostly lurked because nothing really drew me in.
Shortly after that, the forums underwent a transition to the “Gamma forums” and for whatever reason, they seemed more open and I started posting there more and more and more. There wasn’t any rhyme or reason for it but I suddenly just started posting more and more…and more and more. I started out posting some in GD, then moved into MM and Reach. And, now, well, I’m kind of everywhere.
to briefly put it from my perspective, i find the community here is very friendly and inviting towards everyone. Even towards the less mature there isnt a ton of “flaming” or making fun of them or anything along those lines. For the most part people here are well mannered and you can carry on discussions and debates rather than pure arguments… that’s why i like it at lease
I came here when the forums were still in the beta stages. (It feels I am the only one who preferred the layout of the beta forums. Granted, that layout wouldn’t have been practical with the larger amount of members we have now, but I liked it). Originally, I thought I would have hard time transferring from b.net. But ultimately, it was very easy when Bungie had gone dark and I didn’t have a lot to discuss there. The discussion of the future of Halo was what drew me here.
Back in the day I was slowly more active, the small size of the community was very appealing. It was easier to discuss when there was less noise, so to speak, and the debates were calm and civilized. Currently, I don’t see this community being any better than the b.net community, but the discussion is still interesting enough to keep me here.
I wouldn’t say the forums were more chaotic before Snicker.
They seemed a bit more close and personal to me. Well I guess there weren’t that many people two years ago and I joined before bs angel so… That’s a long time ago. I remember when cruel legacey got promoted to community leader! And then the joke of, what does CL stand for? Was born.
My home forums were the halo wars forums before, and then I discovered these forums. A few times later, both forums got merged in 2010.
When the halo waypoint forums were so new, I was like, oo! This is fairly new! I can be part of the community here! So yeah… 2 years and a few weeks later… Here I am!
I was originally one of those of those moochers that came over during the days of the Defiant Thread (3rd largest thread on Waypoint only beaten by Yo! and Yo-Yo!). I posted right above bs angel’s post that contained 15+ codes for the Defiant Map Pack. I felt like I owed the site and 343I a bit. That’s one reason I found the transition easy-ish.
I have periods where I’ll go on a posting spree and others where I’ll look though 50+ threads and no reply to one of them. But what really kept me here? It was the original Yo! thread. I met some really awesome people, but, sadly, good things do come to an end… Almost all of the original active Yo! members have gone their separate ways, sadly. But I’m still here because of them. You people know who you are, and I still think you’re some epic people!
