How did you feel about the ending of Halo 4?

Well, I don’t know if this was asked, but I wonder…How did you feel after watching the ending cutscenes of Halo 4?

Personally, when I watched it, I almost cried. For that Matter, I said this.

SPOILERS BELOW

I liked it almost cried and so on. But I am wondering, is Cortana really dead?
And why did chief take off his armor at the end? So many questions, so little answers.

I cried. 343 really hit the mark with touching our emotions with the characters we loved throughout the entire series. Especially with Chief and Cortana’s relationship.

Chief taking off his armor showed that he was done with the fight. It symbolized that he was still a person under that bulky Spartan armor. Not to mention that Spartans like Master Chief have problems integrating into society or actually being social, thus why Master Chief never really talks to anyone personally except for Cortana. Cortana being lost, there is no one for him to really turn to.

At least that is what I believe.

I literally cried when the credits started playing “Never Forget”. I’m still depressed about Cortana, especially how the Chief reacted.

I agree, especially that part when Cortana was backing up and her last words were, “Welcome Home, John”. I thought MC was gonna scream.

I think how the Chief reacted to her death was done really well. Remember how little he was affected by the people who died in the Composer scene earlier? That’s a really nice contrast with how hard-hit he is when Cortana dies, and it shows that he may have some slivers of humanity, he could be more than just a nearly voiceless soldier.

The way he just stood there brought chills down my spine, and his final conversation with the Chief and Lasky really got me, especially the last thing Chief said.

“She asked me that once, about being a machine.”

You know my answer. I sat next to you when I saw it. :’(

I’m really forward to how 343i portrays him in the next two games. I just wonder what it’s going to be like though play as him though, knowing Cortana is gone.

Personally, I don’t think Halo is gonna be the same without Cortana. The way I see it, in the next titles, it seems Master Chief, is just gonna be like the way we saw him in Halo 3, b4 he found Cortana, all silent, yet only spoke once or twice.

I need to play the champagne a couple more times, but after chief took his head off, revealing blackness, (played on normal) I thought: " WER IZ MAH HALO 5?"

if you think about it the ending is awesome and remember this is the first part of there trilogy so ofcourse there isn’t anything too crazy but damn it was a great campaign kindof short but good

I don’t think so, it’s more likely they’ll expand more on his humanity, and if they bring the conflict between the Elite and Oni into the games, I can see the Chief and some of the UNSC siding with the Arbiter. Whatever they do, they need to continue on their path instead of making him a nearly talk-less machine again.

Oh god…I already know how you felt. Crying a river.

When she starts walking away, i thought “No!” and wanted the chief to run up to her, and hug her, or atleast when she felt the armor he’d remove his helmet and say “thats the armor, not the real thing…” But the ending STILL caught me, and brought tears to my eyes, and though he’d find her again, eventually, and also walking to the repair station, I figured, now hes got his step-brother and step-sister to back him up, no matter the fight. and when they removed the helmet, as it showed darkness, my head clicked and said “the legacy lives on”

I thought the same thing. That part was by far sad.

great game but very sad ending. I hope Cortana comes back, somehow. halo just wont be the same or as good without her

4 things that I concluded from Halo 4 ending:

  1. The Librarian ‘enhanced’ the Chief so that he could become immune to the composer. At the end of Halo 4, Chief has his armor taken off, we can deduce 2 things from this: A. He gets a new set of shiny armor and B. The scientists are looking for what the Librarian did to him so they can apply the same effect on the Spartan IV’s.

  2. Cortana isn’t dead: Where was the actual confirmation? Exactly. Cortana is one of the most fundamental characters in Halo, Without her there is no Halo same as the Master Chief.

  3. The Didact can’t be dead. Why make a completely new saga, introduce a new nemesis and then kill him off? Why would the Didact have a weapon that we wasn’t immune to? He is a forerunner after all so he can’t of over-looked that detail.

  4. Laskey is awesome: He’s grown on me, I hope he returns in Halo 5 and 6.

The final conversation between Chief and Cortana really got to me, I was home alone at the time and I admit, I shed a tear. 343 have proven their love for Halo just through that one cut-scene. BRAVO I say!

It doesnt seem to me like there was much of a setup for sequels. Did any one pick up on clues as r where the story will go from here?
