How did this lobby system get approved

One of my only complaints about Halo 5 is its horrendous lobby system. It’s very frustrating to use and is definitely a step back from Reach’s excellent system. I mean there must be long time Halo fans in the dev team who upon first trying the new system were like “I cannot view other players’ service record before the game starts making customization effectively meaningless. Such a great idea, the fans will love this”. Before the last update, you couldn’t even change gametypes without being returned to the title screen first and this has only been patched with the last update, which is ridiculous.

It also seems like there are not enough people complaining about this so sadly I don’t see this issue being fixed in the near future.

Almost the entire UI is terrible to me.

  1. Not being able to mute annoying trolls prior to matches starting
  2. Not being able to map buttons individually at launch
  3. With this many armor pieces (MANY of which are just copy/pastes with some patterns added) there should be a much better way to view those unlocked
  4. No medals after the game? Then what’s the point of them?

That has nothing to do with the UI, and I’m sure Microsoft plans to (or already has) rolled out the new Xbox OS update that allows for every controller to map buttons. Why would Halo 5 create a whole system of button mapping while Microsoft was already working on it for all games? Seems more like an Xbox complaint as opposed to a Halo complaint.

How is configuring the button layout in the menus not part of the user interface?

I guess every Halo’s UI is terrible then, because you’ve NEVER been able to fully remap buttons on any Halo game.

I seriously don’t understand this complaint - " I cannot view other players’ service record before the game starts making customization effectively meaningless". Why do you feel it necessary to view what others look like? Are you not capable of making a decision exclusive to what you like and not what everybody else has? Are you 9 or 10 years? Do you have self esteem issues so much that you must compare yourself to what everybody else does?

I really couldn’t care less about how good or bad the other player is unless they are my friend or someone famous, I mean shouldn’t you be focusing more on your own gameplay and not how pretty someone else is with a K/D higher or lower than you? Not many people looked at the other peoples armor in Halo Reach and sat there thinking that is nice armor. And if you did then that’s cool. You are one in the however many million who play the game who may or may not care about the way other peoples digital avatar look in the game. To be honest I really doubt that many in the millions that play really care about the appearance of total digital strangers either.

I don’t give a -Yoink- about armor, but the majority of players like customization because they can show off cool stuff.

Lobby system has been given the Apple approach, it’s been dummed down so it looks clean but the features are basically gone now.

It doesn’t even look clean tho.

I would not mind if I could look at others armor just to pass the time while waiting. but I don’t care that I can’t see it either. That said, I’m very glad rank is not viewable as it only encourages people to quit in the lobbdy or early in the game

The only thing that annoys me, is finishing a match to go pick a new game type. When I do this, it brings me to the main menu. Sometimes it doesn’t even do this. I go back and that’s it. I can choose a game type. I don’t know if it was a mistake or bug, but it just get’s a bit annoying after a while.

This has been fixed luckily.
