How Did the UNSC Lose?

This is a loaded question, because after playing the campaign I honestly can’t figure out how the marines in this game didn’t absolutely wade through bodies before you even get there.

Marines in this game will BODY anything they encounter, especially if you give them decent weapons. But even on legendary I’ve sat back and watched unarmored marines pistol whip a brute berserker to death. I gave a group Snipers and skewers and we drove around killing PHANTOMS like they were made of cardboard.

They don’t need Chief at all, he usually just gets in the way. Very rarely have I lost an entire group of marines in these dust ups, and more often than not they save me as much as I save them.

So my main question is: how did the Banished even get this far.

They need chief for the driving and keeping them alive… from their own lack of self-preservation.

Other than that, yeah. As long as they acquire a target they mow it down with ease. Was fun discovering how easily Phantoms go down on Legendary by Marine Snipers. Razorback is the best vehicle.

Ah, which reminds me, the punishment the Marines can take.
At times my Razorback gets stuck in the back right wheel, and I die, but all five marines survive the destroyed vehicle, and just proceed to make drinking cups from any circular object housing a pair of ocular sensories and a central processing unit.

So, how did they lose? Chief wasn’t there to drive the Infinity.

IMO the banished are only in this game to try to make Halo wars cannon in the mainline shooter. they haven’t won anything and as far as I’m aware the unsc still has infinity’s sister ship eternity so…

Some marines are straight up immortal. I shot them with a tank. Sniper to the head. Shot them 1 million miles in the air etc. and they were fine.

Maybe that’s because…there’s no friendly fire in campaign? Only way to kill a friendly is to hit them with a vehicle or drop something heavy on them, like when they’re too dumb to move out of the way when you’re deploying a vehicle

OMG why is that a thing? Killing marines is a staple.

0/10 literally unplayable & worse than Halo 5.

because Cortana broke her back carrying them

Noooo, that can’t be true, how can I annoy my friends on co-op, by turning the marines against them, my tradition has been taken away.

Halo Wars 2 spoiler.

Spirit of Fire that was weaker than every covenant ship 28 years ago, was able to hold out against a modern banished ship

But the most advanced UNSC Infinity losing to the banished.

Because the UNSC is scattered and lost 6 months ago, the only marines left are the true badasses who can survive on two sticks and a rock, and they are sharing the rock using it to blow up phantoms.

The marines in infinite have seen 6 months of strait fighting watched as spartans fell, watched as ODSTs died, watched as their commanders fell and they kept fighting.

We are playing with the best of the best and the most bad -Yoink!- marines on the the ring.

And yet with all of this, the bastards that spawn with the Spnker will always die when ever you call in anything because standing on the landing pad is a good idea.

Maybe after all of that they’ve decided they didn’t want to keep fighting, so they’ve just been waiting for a vehicle drop

Didn’t the UNSC lose because they were beaten down by Cortana until they finally developed the Weapon Plan and decided to send a last ditch effort to delete Cortana?

Atriox basically attacked them out of nowhere and destroyed their entire fleet hard and fast.

Also really, why bother tying ingame interactions to lore? Ingame and lore has always been inconsistent in nature, which is why we have all sorts of “mAsTeR cHiEf iN tHe bOoKs” meme videos.

Massive Spoilers.

Cortana destroyed HIGHCOM in Sydney, Laconia Station and 75 Spartans there, as well as UNSC AI causing massive havoc on Cortana’s orders. The Infinity was critically damaged by the Banished because Atriox sought to kill Cortana for destroying Doisac, and after seeing the consequences of her actions Cortana sacrificed herself trying to destroy Zeta Halo, and leaving the Galaxy in a state of disarray. The UNSC of the Infinity were left on Zeta Halo to face the Banished, who had nothing left to lose.

Because it is gameplay and gameplay is not necessarily lote accurate.

Just look at Halo 2, brutes can tank a beam rifle shot to the helmet even if in the lore the beam rifle penetrates meters of concrete.

Not lore accurate.

That is why.

It’s because the force near Zeta Halo were weak af. Play Halo Wars and watch a ship of outdated tech and capabilities take down the banished with ease.
