How did the Precursors lose??

It makes no sense to me? There technology succeeded the forerunners by over one hundred million years and they were on tier 0 of the technological scale while the foreunners were on tier 1. I know some of the Precursors escaped the milky way to another galaxy most likely being the Large Magellanic Cloud but any theories on how the Forerunners beat most of the Precursors?

Plenty of likely scenarios. Perhaps they had a split in their society over how they were testing and deleting species. Perhaps there are two kinds of Precursor, a more “god-like” kind that watches over the galaxy and mortal ones that act as their lackeys and the Forerunners beat the mortal ones.

Such ideas are not all that surprising if you take a look at the mythologies of the Greeks, Norse, Romans and the religious stories of Chirstians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, etc.

They could have been using their technology.

Or, the war may never even have happened at all and the Primordial lied to demoralize the Didact. Or if the war DID happen, the Precursors may have simply decided to leave rather than truly be defeated. They may have not ever been threatened, but realized that their presence in the galaxy disrupts the natural evolution of their subjects so they now study from afar.

Or DeceptionCobra could be right. Any number of reasons really.

Yea but that kind of wouldnt make sense since if they are a single species, they would all technically be equal in strength if you ignore the use of armor and weapons

Perhaps they aren’t a single species.

Yeah, they could be a genus of closely related species. The Prehistoric Human Civilization seen in the Forerunner Saga was composed of multiple homonids such as the k’tamanune (Neanderthals or -Yoink!- neanderthalensis), Florians (-Yoink!- floresiensis), Chamanune (-Yoink!- sapiens), Denisovans (Denisova hominin), and the B’ashamanune (possibly -Yoink!- Erectus?). It’s entirely possible that Precursor society was similarly divided up by multiple closely-related species.

Who knows what actually what went down. We’re taking the word from a gravemind. The war happened WAY before the Didact and Bornstellar, in fact so long ago, barely anybody even knows about let alone what actually happened.

My guess? There are several factions of Precursors, each who build up races from scratch and use them as proxies against each other. One faction of Precursors manages victory using Forerunners. As to the Precursors who created the Forerunners, who can say what happened to them, to say nothing if they are the same ones who created humanity, or if it was a different faction.

Sort of like Spore and Black and White, but Halo style.
