How did the Banished defeat Humanity at it’s peak?

You’re telling me that the entirety of the Covenant who pushed Humanity back to Earth couldn’t defeat Humanity entirely; but the Banished within a year was able to easily overwhelm the UNSC and the Infinity which is known for being a fleet killer somehow winds up destroyed and the entire UNSC Force wiped out for plot convenience sorry but nah.

Didact or cortanas help. Hopefully cortanas help till she realises she was being used by UR. Some better writing in relating EU lore to the games with the benefit of a longer open world campaign to use as exposition moments. For the sake of some semblance of continuity

I think the didact dies a little to early to have much of an impact on the banished/human war right?

Humanity is severely weakened because of the AIs and Cortana. I am confused.

If i remember correctly im sure i heard didact survived halo 4 ending but then 343 done there usual marketing BS and killed him off in a book that was released after halo 4! This is what bugs me about 343 they leave stuff out the games and instead put the missing chunks into books and other content! Its like halo 5… all of a sudden blue team is on the scene and back with chief… for those that never read the books this was confusing as the previous bumgie games make out as if master chief was the only spartan left… it also filled the people who play the games with a ton of questions… who are blue team? How did they know chief? How did they survive reach? Where have they been this whole time during the events that took place from halo CE, 2, 3 and 4?! Why didnt they help save earth during the previous halo games?! Bungie on purposely made master chief the only remaining spartan in there games to make the character more important to story and give the player that feel of your character being hard-core and invincible and 343 swooped in and took all that away by having new spartans created like the annoying sarah palmer and team osirus etc then bringing spartans from halo lore into the game without any back story or explanation for those who are fans only of the games…we shouldn’t have to jump between platforms to fill in huge plot holes in the halo story!

Yes cause Blue lady made big pulse that make power go down

Unless the Didact made it out of the containment he was put in by Master Chief in a Comic Arc, then the Didact is not dead.

OT: The Covenant almost finished humanity off, but they couldn’t get close to defeating the Banished, even at the Covenant’s peak, as was said in Halo Wars 2.
Considering the events of Halo 5 and so forth, humanity was most likely more vulnerable than before.

Ahh so he was put in containment?.. i just heard that he was killed off properly after halo 4 in a book… either way this stuff should be shown or even mentioned in the games

Nope 343i confirmed he is still alive in the milky way.
He survived halo4 and that is explained before you beat him in thebterminals as his emotions are so strong composers don’t work on him.
In escalations the next 72 hours he falls into a slip gate at the composer’s forge.
Fall of reach came out before CE, John was never the only spartan. It was my first halo experience. Plus coop proves you dont feel less cool if there were more than on spartan in any halo game.
Even if that were true, 343i have spartan 4s in infinite so the argument fails.
I don’t think books should be required either.
But nothing about tying together stories makes that a requirement.
I watched endgame with 2 people who had seen no other mco film and infinity War with 1 who had not seen any. They were all able to enjoy the film on its own merits.
All it take is decent writing to explain key plot points and motivations and using subtle nods and references to tie the rest together into a cohesive whole. It is here 343i have stumbled thus far.
No reason all the core elements ie logic plague, didact and cortana can’t be brought together in a meaningful and intelligible way in game.
And it rewards the hard-core fans while giving game fans a more consistent and cohesive series rather than dropping plot point each game without a decent explanation.

Not sure, but I’m glad they did. I think Halo’s narrative works waaaaaaay better when humans are the underdog.

Well, the story arc is majorly stupid.

The Didact falls into the large wormhole he has created at the end of Halo 4, through which the “data” of Composed people are sent.
He crash lands on the third ring I believe.
Black Team is there for some reason as “body guards” to some scientists, they get slaughtered when the Didact wakes up.

Chief and his team mates in Blue team gets sent to investigate.

Turns out there’s a storage compartment of sorts where composed people’s “data” is stored, but it’s shown as some sort of bizarre wall painting with agonized faces, if I recall. There’s a portal there to the Forge, or whatever it’s called, where composers are created.

Blue team gets a monitor side kick, have a small wrestling play date with the Didact, manage to stab him in the eye through his helmet. He gets angry and leaves.

Chief and Blue team figure out that they can hook the composers up with the Halo ring and use the Composer thingy with the ring instead of killing everything.

Ends with Chief confronting the Didact, who’s targeted with the Halo ring and six composer modules, if I recall, and gets “composed”, and they call it “containment”, of sorts.

The Art is bad, the dialog is crap and the whole story line is rushed.
It exist to tie some loose ends up from Halo 4, and it does so in a horrifically horrible manner.

I don’t know if the Didact has taken part in any other written media after that.
If he is, then I hope it’s a lot better than that comic arc.
