How did moderators become moderators

just curious on how this works

I imagine the way most websites / forums operate - if you are active and helpful on the forums, then you’ll eventually be noticed and asked to join the team if they are looking for new staff. At least that’s the way it’s operated on most of the sites I’ve frequented over the years. Best rule I was ever taught to follow - if you want to be a moderator, don’t ask to be a moderator :stuck_out_tongue:

Well I know how some became on these forums pretty much. Though if they pop by and clarify that will be better than me saying it.

The earliest case of moderators(bar 343i of course) here was something called Community Leaders. These were very helpful members back in 2010 early 2012 that was asked by 343i from several communitys to help build and maintain the community here. Though they werent Moderators like we know it. They had to be well behaved and be a good influence. But they didnt have all the tools.

Slowly but steadily as the years went by they got more responsibilitys. The rank kinda grew into Moderators. (Though not every CL became one)

Two(that I know off) of our current moderators actually started with that program actually which is really cool.

I do think there should be a few more moderators to help lock stuff that slips through the cracks.

not me though, the thing they don’t tell you about the job is you have to read all the spoilers and leaks (effectively spoiling the plot for you), check every single link everyone sends and browse every single thread and every single post in every single section to look for stuff that breaks the rules and I just don’t have the dedication to do that. Respect to those who can tho

Are you saying I don’t do a good enough job?
Sniff.

Yeah, it sucks a lot of times but it is what it is. I’ve been doing this for a couple days now so I’m just used to it at this point.

And by “days” I mean “years.” Damn.
