I’ve ben hearing lots of people talk about “Halo 4: Cortana Death scene”. But then she appears in Halo 5. This Doesn’t really make any sense.

Well in Halo 4 Cortana split off the rampant fragments of herself into the Didacts ship to run interference. These angry, depressed hate filled parts of her survived. But the ‘good’ part of her sacrificed herself to save the Master Chief from the nuclear explosion. That Cortana that we all knew and loved died. What we see in Halo 5 is her rampant, damaged self.

I like explanation, but it might’ve been just her becoming more human, and so becoming more like Halsey after she found the AI “fountain of youth”

In a way her becoming human makes sense. We do act 'rampant from time to time.

Metastability or some baloney like that…
Lore says that a fragment of her was dumped into slipspace when the Mantle’s Approach emergency-jumped (yes; Chief didn’t finish it off with the nuke, it actually escaped) away. The Domain is apperently in slipspace (as hinted at by the events in Cryptum) and she found it.

She’s not rampant anymore. She clearly says in Halo 5 that she had found the cure for rampancy and was telling all the other AI constructs to side with her if they too wish to be cured. Also after being cured, she is trying for galactic peace. Technically, she isn’t evil. She has good intentions though her actions can be seen as evil since she is basically saying, surrender to the galactic peace idea or have your species be wiped from assistance.

First off i really don’t believe she has cured herself of rampancy. 1) If I had a friend/relative that had an illness mental and or otherwise and then one day said hey i’m cured and was acting in a very antisocial behavior Iwould still ask for a second opinion. 2) If she truly had a plan for world peace why didn’t she show it to John. In the past when they worked together she straegize with him and he got the job done his way. Why couldn’t she ask him for his opinion. 3) If the Domain did give A.I.s an extended lifespan then she had the time to wait. 4) Since all the Master Chief knew, i think, was fighting and she wanted to end fighting that wouldn’t leave much room for other career choices. 5) When I want to see a friend/relative I don’t have to go through hell or high water, and I most certainly don’t have to shoot people or aliens to see them. Second the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and she has certainly gone a few miles. No, Cortana is most certainly not cured.
Oh and third if she had the means to cure rampancy why didn’t she just cure them, explained her plan and then say, “Hey if you want to help me please do.” You can attract more flies with honey i think the saying goes.
The loving, caring Cortana which we knew died. When she fragmented too did her personalities. Read tales from slipspace as it includes a nice illustration as to how Cortana manipulated Warden. Just to be clear though the Cortana in Halo 4 is very different from that of 5.
In my book characters should really stay dead

True, though 343 can do what ever they want with her. Bring her back, keep her dead. If they kept her dead they would potentially miss out on some opportunity.

While true they might miss a golden opportunity but if they killing her and bring her back to life, surely it lose impact.

It’s a different Cortana though. It will have greater impact once we find out who is controlling her.

In the story Dominion Splinter as she talking to the Warden she compares herself like a undestructable sword. There was a sword that is her namesake but it means mercy cause while it was being used in battle an angel came down and broke off its tip saying, “Mercy is better than revenge!” So if shes a sword whose weilding her. Whom embodies vengeance?
It’s simply not the same Cortana, more of a reconstruction, if I am not mistaken. 343’s bad storytelling contributes to the confusion.
She didn’t die
Guys cortana in halo 4 is the real cortana but she sacrfise herself to save John 117 And in halo 5 they made a new cortana but a little evil thanks for reading
