How did 343 screw up the ODST helmet?!

Ok so as I look at the helmet I definitely see Reach throwbacks in the design EXCEPT. The head is WAY to big at the top and WAY too small at the chin. The helmet is too wide. The visor is misshapen compared to Reach and 3 ODST. The chin goes too far inward and doesn’t look like it could fit a human head.

The biggest issue I have is with the no chin, but I definitely agree it doesn’t look like it used to :pensive:

Doesn’t even look like Reach’s model, its more 3 feeling

Honestly looks the same to me, just set at a really weird angle on the neck, pulled back and tilted forward, probably so that all the attachments from other helmets can fit it.

Probably because they used Halo 3’s ODST helmet design?
Which I honestly see as a good thing, because that means we might see attachment variants for Buck, Mickey, Dutch, and Romeo for it.

I think it is, the Mark VI Helmet also uses the Halo 3 model as well

The helmet itself is fine, the placement is awkward but I think it’s the angle the helmet is at in relation to the neck and body. The chin/neck thing honestly has more to do with the the way the armor is positioned than the helmet itself.

If you pair it with the scarf, it looks fine.

It’s a mix, none of the helmets are a 1:1 copy of their Reach counterparts to be fair.

The new ODST helmet ditches the tiered aggressive look of the top of Reach’s helmet and supplants it with the Halo 3/ODST rounded look. But the rest of the helmet retains the Reach inspiration with the ear cups, visor lines, switches, chin, helmet seams and ventilation placement.

Just wait until you see the Firefall helmet for the Mark VII.

A lot of the reach helmets are messed up on the chin. I think they took them off of a bunch of helmets and put the extra chin lengths on the commando :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Still better than Halo 5’s astronaut take on the ODST helmet.
