How CTF incentive should have been

This isn’t really a complaint thread. More of an idea thread.

Let’s say we get our old classic CTF back (99% guarantee it will happen).

How do we give incentive to people to score the flag and not kill farm?

When you pick up the flag, you should be given points based on the distance you cover between the flag stand and the capture point. It will be measured in a straight line so the closer you get to the flag cap area, the more points you get.

If the flag is returned, you don’t get any of the points for traveling. You only get points for taking it from the stand.

Whoever scores it gets a small bonus for scoring it but if you manage to take the flag from the enemy base and score it without dying, you get a medal and extra points.

For teammates, you should get flag protector medals for killing enemies while in proximity of the flag carrier and for killing enemies that are shooting at the flag carrier.

Also, drivers that carry flag passengers around recieve the same distance bonus as the flag carrier.

Point distribution should lean towards giving the person who covers the most ground with the flag the most points (if it is scored). But teammates who are good at defending the flag carrier and drive the flag carrier around should have a shot at MVP if they contribute as well.

That is how you make a more teamwork oriented CTF.

Edit: Distamce points should be measured by percentage. (10% there, 50% there) as to not give you more points on bigger maps.

hes saying distance from flag not time traveled so that wouldnt be a problem a set number of points maybe 50 or something

you can’t go back and recover the distance needed. Once the flag is 50 meters away from the flag cap area, anybody who carries it from there can only get 50 meters of distance points.

Why not just make the credit payout bigger for the shorter the game goes? Long game = little credits. Short game = big credits.

Because evenly matched teams will be punished if they can’t overcome each others defenses. If we make it so kill farming offers very little points then that should be enough.

Also, CTF k/d ratio should be invisible and should have no effect on your overall k/d.
