How could Warzone improve?

Warzone was a creative idea in Halo 5 like 2 teams against each other with AIs and i think it was a brilliant idea. Warzone firefight was good but should had been in launch. However, some liked it and some don’t. It would be worse if war zone was ditched though because it would be a downgrade.

There are ways that 343 could improve it make warzone so addictive such as instead of getting weapons and vehicles from req’s, i think in maps, we should be able to find the correct weapons and vehicles to destroy the boss, or like after we finish a round, we should be given like powerful vehicles or weapons in bases but like give the correct ones for the next round but it depends on the player the way they use it. Melee also needs to slow down but like i don’t mind the 1 melee death for boss as they have bigger strength.
Same goes for warzone firefight.

Also, they should add classic firefight up to 4 players from ODST and Reach. Like for reinforcements, we should get marines to help us and i hope they have a funny dialogue and it was fun using our strategy to protect marines. For firefight in offline, players should add option if they want to add a limit of lives to test their strategy.

Playlists should be:
Warzone (heroic, legendary, mythic)
Warzone firefight (heroic, legendary mythic)
Classic firefight from ODST and reach

What are your thoughts to make warzone addictive?

Take out reqs, or revamp the system in a way that is more balanced and not pay/grind to win.

Personally I don’t like the boss system as it seems too luck based, two teams shooting and hoping to get the last shot. An AI-less warzone would be my dream but more strategic or less luck based objectives could serve as a replacement. The req system could also be balanced more to allow less one sided but still action packed battles.

To make Warzone worth playing at all it needs some work.

1.) Nuke the entire concept of reqs. Even if you remove the entire P2W aspect of it, being able to summon power weapons and vehicles uncontested is antithetical to Halo’s design.
2.) Remove loadouts as they are also incompatible with Halo’s core design.

Now that that is out of the way we can start building back up.
1.) Replace the point scoring with a series of dynamic rotating objectives. Klll X amount of AI/Bosses, Hold X base for Y amount of time, plant a bomb, capture the flag etc. First team to complete a certain amount of objectives wins.
2.) Reintroduce elements of Dominion by placing all weapons, power ups, and vehicles in the home base, neutral bases, or looted from AI. Like Dominion all bases(including home bases) upgrade over time to increase the amount of chaos in the match. Unlike the req system, this makes it possible for players to contest certain more powerful weapons and vehicles by taking bases from their opponents. The home base weapon and vehicle spawns help keep losing teams in the fight.
3.) Hunting AI outside of a specific objective is done for resources. The obvious like grunts dropping plasma pistols and stickies when your opponents have some pesky vehicles, high ranking Elites/Prometheans dropping heavy weapons and powerups ala Overshield, Camo, damage boost, etc.

Now keep in mind its not like I’m putting my foot down and saying this is exactly as it should be, but I do believe if it returns it should follow the general guidelines of : Make nearly every weapon/vehicle something that can be contested by the other team and that objectives should be more dynamic and interesting in standard Warzone.

i would be interested in a variation like this with some minor tweaks. As of right now, the current warzone is garbage. I also dont mind the loadout part of it but it needs to get dialed back to heres a pistol and a choice between a H2BR or a DMR

There shouldnt even be a seperate part of the game called warzone. Firefight should just be firefight like how we had it in odst but with the options to customize it like in reach with our new halo infinite gameplay. Then the pvp version would just be a gigantic team battle without enemy marines spawning beside us while we have camo and murdering us in under a second.

Because there wouldnt be AI or pay 2 win in gigantic team battle, im pretty sure 343 could manage getting us a 32+ player game going. That would be badass

I love the idea you said about 32+ players, that’s something new.

i only think of that because so many people have been debating whether or not there should be battle royale. I do want it but i want it mostly to have the chance at higher player counts in-game. Forgers can go crazy designing some huge elaborate maps and the community gets the enjoyment of huge infection customs or something weve yet to discover. I dont imagine we could get 100 players since the game will have to support pretty high quality graphics but the idea of an infection game starting with 20 zombies and 80 humans seems pretty spicy

I’ll just post my ideas that I already mentioned in other threads.

> Well, they could use this Warzone Feedback thread as a basis. My post is on page four. I haven’t played regular Warzone for a long time, but I’ll list some things that could be changed or improved.
>
> 1) Better designed maps. As unbalanced teams showed, only having one way to get to the rest of the map out of the home base isn’t good. Giving us multiple paths even if they’re only available on foot is better than nothing. More armories might be better like you suggested kind of like an emergency backup or more flanking options.
>
> 2) Each team needs a health meter for the bosses. This will stop people from stealing a boss kill from a mile away with one shot.
>
> 3) More boss variety. It’s a simulation so who cares if there are enemies from previous games. It also needs more free roaming low point bosses to mainly be nuisances. It’s not related to Warzone, but don’t use WZ maps for Firefight. That’s how we got Hunter bosses and Wardens on elevated platforms in the home base turning it into a cluster you know what.
>
> 4) We need the ability to customize our REQ menu so we can select the weapons/vehicles that we want to use in the game. This way we’re not side-scrolling for ten seconds trying to find the right loadout weapon.
>
> 5) More variety of worlds to be on with different art styles. We got a little bit of that with Sanctum and Temple being on a Covenant world, but there’s obvious potential to go to more worlds especially if you allow enemies from previous games. Also, the final boss or the bosses in general could be specific to the world we’re playing on. With art style, I’m mainly referring to the UNSC bases because we don’t need cookie cutter bases on every map. They all could be unique and influenced by the world they’re on.
>
> 6) Maybe the new skill system will prevent this more, but obviously the potential for farming needs to be addressed. I don’t know how you fix it, but we need something like maybe a surrender option for example.
>
> 7) For game modes, have a Warlords playlist at launch for full fireteams or Spartan Companies as well as a Turbo playlist. I was also thinking of maybe having a Dominion based playlist or even including Dominion elements into regular Warzone.

> I wouldn’t mind some REQ card variety that extends beyond armor mods and weapons assuming they’re still going to use some type of REQ cards. It’s kind of tough without Warzone becoming class based like medic, gunner, etc., but it could spark some interesting ideas. I’ll mention a few off the top of my head below.
>
> 1) A Commander Card REQ which summons a squad of minions to follow and fight for you for a limited period of time. The rarity of it could determine who appears like a squad of Marines, Grunts or the rarest being Elites or Brutes. If Warzone did end up with classes, this could be one of the cards for being a commander.
>
> 2) Another could be a Boss Damage REQ which makes each of your shots do 20-30% more damage to a boss, but you also take a penalty of some sort (not sure what it should be).
>
> 3) A Turbo REQ which allows you to pick a high level REQ card one time during the game no matter what REQ level you’re currently at. It’s only a one time use and it could have a restriction on when it can be used as well so a team doesn’t all spam it at the beginning of the game. It would be good to have when your team is doing poorly.
>
> 4) A REQ card limited playlist. It would likely have to be a separate Warzone mode, but you could either make your deck beforehand and then select which one you want to use or the game could choose for you if you didn’t bother making one.

I think warzone is pretty good. maybe more maps to route through. I think them introducing us this to us in h5 was good but I feel like the maps overall became stale. And possibly add more players.

For starters, the REQ and loadout system ought to be simplified and streamlined. The system as it is now is too bloated, slow, and prone to lagging for several minutes. Instead of having players pick one option at a time every match, just let them make custom loadouts for Warzone. For instance, let’s say your preferred weapons a Sentinel Battle Rifle with Laser Sights, paired with an SMG equipped with Recon Sights and Stabilizers. And your preferred equipment is Speed Booster. Instead of going through the dozens of variants of each weapon and armor mod one at a time, every time, you could just assign these to a loadout and pick all your favorites in an instant. With this, players would spend less time in the menus and more time playing the game.

As for REQs, calling in power weapons and vehicles, there are a number of improvements that could be made. First, get rid of any non-unique variants. No more Warthogs that come in a million different paintjobs, no more weapons that are just marginally better versions of the originals. Second, get rid of the RNG factor in obtaining REQ cards. How many people have gotten awesome cards, like Prophet’s Bane, only to never use them for fear of wasting it? Instead of saving up points to spend on random packs, let us buy REQ cards directly. Then you could stock up on all your favorite weapons. You could get as many sniper rifles as you want, or spend it all on Wasps. The energy system would still be in place to prevent players from having power weapons on every spawn. Which brings me to my third point.

Make REQ tiers unlock based on time, not score. The score-based unlocks make it far too easy for players, especially coordinated teams, to steamroll other players and trap them in their base with tanks, rockets, snipers, and air support, while the other team can’t get anything better than an assault rifle. While we’re at it, lets improve the home bases to have multiple exits so there’s less risk of kill farming becoming an issue again, and the defending team has a chance to take a base back without fruitlessly throwing themselves at a wall of bullets. Emergency teleporters would work really nicely here.

The PVE aspect of Warzone needs some attention as well. I know that everyone loves to hate Spartan IVs and call them a bunch of wimps, but this shouldn’t actually be a cannon thing. Whenever I play Warzone, I shouldn’t feel completely helpless against a single Elite without 3+ other players backing me up. The baseline difficulty for PVE encounters should be Heroic, not Legendary. And they shouldn’t be able to throw grenades/shoot at me when they’re not even looking at me. Enemy encounters, especially bosses, should be randomized and much less predictable than in Halo 5. And I think the score value of legendary bosses should be toned down, with new, non-boss based objectives created for more opportunities to score points. Such as retrieving supplies, rescuing marines, or sabotaging enemy equipment. Lastly, when we take bases away from Covenant/Prometheans, they’re basically never seen again. They should try to retake bases from the players every now and then, and regain control of them if they’re not repelled, causing players to lose the option to spawn there until it is reclaimed.

I love Warzone !!

I want 24 vs 24 or 32 vs 32 players in a match!!
make the maps 3x bigger and make it. I you can go up higher x2 higher in a flying vehicle !!

I want to be able to fly the pelican and that it can shoot also
i want vehicles 2 come back revenant from Reach, Falcon from Reach, Hornet and chopper
I Also want to fly a phantom and shoot it in Warzone

Make 7-10 maps for launch and 8-10 post launch maps

I would like to see a elevator in Warzone like spire Map in Halo Reach and like the map from halo 2 where you get to a higher point
I also would like to see like see like boost jumps from forge
in a halo Warzon Map and maybe teleportation like thre from the first 3 games in a halo Warzone Map from the base to the middle of the Map!!
warzone Forge

bring back jet pack

Those are some of more ideas!!:smiley:

true, we don’t want battle Royale. It doesn’t need a battle Royale to be popular. Halo can still be popular in it’s own way like halo 2,3 and reach and even 4 that always adds new modes that they create. Even though 4 declined quick, still had lots of modes on release and sold alot.

Halo Reach: Loved Invasion and other modes.
Halo 4: Dominion was what i liked.

A few things i’d like to see changed for Warzone 2.0 is:

  • Not having a million variants, that all do the same thing. Look at the Warthogs. - Vehicles that are more teamwork oriented. Let’s see that Falcon return for some glory! - Base defenses. It would be cool if you could use your REQ points to establish defenses, similar to Dominion in Halo 4. - Pre-set loadouts. Allow us to make our own load-outs, so when we reach the corresponding REQ lvl, we can put on the loadout, instead of having to select all the equipment individually.Just a few of my preferences, that i would like to see change/be added
