To all of those continuing to complaint of how much space this game is taking, update after update, here’s a bit of info to set you at ease so you can stop unnecessarily complaining and creating clutter here.
Content updates OVERWRITE code, they do not add to it. So after all these content updates, the game is still taking up about the same HDD space as it was before the first one.
Verify under Manage Game and see for yourselves. Now breathe and try to play some MCC. Still far from being even close to perfect, but much improved.
You can’t bury the thread that speaks the truth about content updates and storage space, and then keep going into the most popular recent update thread and complain about the same non issue.
Content updates do not take up additional hdd space, just some bandwidth to download them!
Every time I see a new complaint about updates sucking up drive space, I’m going to refresh this thread!
You’ll get a warning or ban for bumping … I gave you a “like” earlier for being informative, since I wasn’t aware of this (I just have a 1TB harddrive and I mostly play Halo so I’m not worried about it).
But the trick to keeping a thread alive is not to be constructive or helpful; you gotta be vulgar, offensive, controversial, and unreasonably angry about something silly.
Let’s see if we can’t stir something up:
> The menu music is too loud! yoink yoink yoink! The announcer is ruining my childhood! yoink yoink yoink! Halo 2 is better than Halo 3 is better than Halo 4 is better than Halo CE is better than Halo 5 is better than Halo 2! yoink yoink yoink! Only babies play Halo X whereas big strong men of skill and admiration play Halo Y! yoink yoink yoink. I want Reach & ODST! yoink yoink yoink! Reach & ODST were garbage! yoink yoink yoink! 3fail3! yoink yoink yoink! I wanna refund even though my mom bought me the game! yoink yoink yoink!
I hope that helps keep your thread alive. lol
Someday, we can all look back on this mess and laugh … but until then, I’m gonna get a head start.

FYI. I’d edit the reference to the infectious disease. I know you’re just quoting something you saw or something somebody else wrote and making a joke, but I saw someone get permanently banned about a week or two ago for using this reference in a derogatory manner. The band specifically stated the user was banned for referring to 343 and/or its employees to an infectious disease.
Edit:
I’m not trying to moderate or anything. I do a lot of lurking on these forums and have read a lot of your post. You don’t seem as though you are one of them whiny always complaining types, I wouldn’t want to see ya get banned for something you didn’t intend. Heck, maybe a mod won’t care because your not using it as an insult and you’ll be fine. I just figured I’d let you know.
Oh, and I was tracking the status of the individual that was perma-band because of the angry and rude nature of their posts, that’s how I know what they got band for.

I was mocking the naysayers. I support 343. But noted. I’ll change it (do me a solid, and change in your’s would ya? It’ll only show up in mine). And personally, I think it’s about time they put a stop to that.

Done.
I must of been editing my post when you posted this. I gave an explanation for my actions. I don’t want to come off as one of the “try to mod” types Haha. I would just copy and paste here, and delete it there, but since this new and revamped waypoint Web sight launched it won’t let me do that from my phone anymore.
Thanks for the advice, but I will continue to be constructive and helpful.
I have seen a lot more people posting in the 12/15 update thread wondering if their game update automatically. Mine did and I am set to Instant-On and Automatic Updates turned on.
The only way I can verify I have the content update is by checking my bandwidth usage from 8pm-10pm last night. It downloaded 1.4GB of data when I was not really using any gaming services, so that was the update. I believe the settings app under network/bandwidth usage will only show the last 12 hours of usage, so if that time has elapsed, I am not sure how you would verify. If you have the aforementioned settings and are not prompted to update when you launch, I am 99% sure you are successfully updated. It would be nice if there was a visible version number in MCC to verify for sure. If one exists, I have not found the correct place to look.
Users here are also continuing to wonder what the total size of the game should be on their HDD after the update as a means of verification of said content update…
I will reiterate, in Manage Game for MCC from My Games and Apps, the total size should basically be identical to when you first installed and updated the game. Mine is roughly 59.1GB.
The subsequent content updates overwrite the code they are intended to replace and do not get appended to the original files. Therefore, these content updates are not eating up more and more HDD space like so many continue to incorrectly state here. You are using bandwidth to download the update on your internet connection but you are not sacrificing any additional hard drive space from these weekly content updates.
then why is my disk space 7 gb smaller then when i downloaded at first, the space counter goes up from 50 percent to 57 percent, it may overwrite in some games, but not for mcc, the diskspace shows differently then what you are saying

Probably because you downloaded something, and didn’t check until after the MCC update. Now we need to help the people understand how much work is involved for debugging.
